An-Sofie Perneel werd in 2002 geboren en kreeg op vierjarige leeftijd vioollessen van Koen Rens aan de Stedelijke Academie van Turnhout. Onder begeleiding van Marleen Ydiers aan de Kunstacademie te Wetteren ontdekte ze de pracht van kamermuziek, die sindsdien een belangrijke plaats in haar leven inneemt.
Als soliste deelde ze het podium met diverse orkesten en ensembles waaronder Artis Dulcedo, Orfeo Kamerorkest, het Gents Universitair Symfonisch Orkest en LUCA Chamber Orchestra. Deze optredens brachten haar naar het Concertgebouw Brugge, deSingel in Antwerpen en De Bijloke in Gent.
Haar orkestervaring begon bij SOV Young, onder leiding van Martijn Dendievel, waar ze gedurende twee seizoenen als concertmeester fungeerde. Een bijzonder inspirerend moment in haar ontwikkeling volgde in 2019, toen ze deel uitmaakte van RCO YOUNG, het jeugdorkest van het wereldberoemde Amsterdamse Concertgebouworkest. Onder leiding van dirigent Pablo Heras-Casado kwamen 72 jonge muzikanten van over de hele wereld samen om werken van Tchaikovsky, Glanert en Mendelssohn uit te voeren.
In de daaropvolgende jaren vervulde An-Sofie de rol van concertmeester bij verschillende vooraanstaande jeugdorkesten. Zo was ze van 2022 tot maart 2024 concertmeester bij Youth Orchestra Flanders en werd ze in 2023 benoemd tot concertmeester van het Mahler Student Festival Orchestra. Afgelopen zomer kreeg ze de kans om als concertmeester op tournee te gaan met het Nationaal Jeugdorkest van Nederland, onder leiding van Anthony Hermus. Tijdens deze tournee traden ze op in het Konzerthaus in Berlijn en het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
Verder is An-Sofie een graag geziene gastvioliste bij onder andere Brussels Philharmonic, Antwerp Symphony Orchestra en Ataneres Ensemble. Als kamermuzikante maakt ze deel uit van het Tínel Ensemble dat ze in 2022 samen met vijf medestudenten oprichtte. Dit flexibele ensemble speelt een breed scala aan bezettingen, met strijkkwartet, klarinet en piano als bouwstenen. Ze treden regelmatig op in Belgische zalen en ze volgden met hun strijkkwartet masterclasses bij Quatuor van Kuijk en Ragazze Kwartet.
Daarnaast volgde ze masterclasses bij tal van violisten waaronder Rainer Schmidt, Erik Schumann, Klara Flieder, Nicolas Dupont, Alexsey Semenenko, Felicity Lipman, Brian Lewis, Lisa Jacobs en Mikhaïl Bezverkhny.
Na het behalen van haar bachelor studeerde ze een jaar bij Prof. Michael Foyle aan de Hochschule für Musik und Tanz te Keulen. Dit academiejaar rondt ze haar master af aan LUCA School of Arts in Leuven, onder begeleiding van docent Maximilian Lohse.
An-Sofie Perneel (b. 2002) began her musical journey at the age of four with violin lessons under Koen Rens at the Stedelijke Academie in Turnhout. Soon after, guided by Marleen Ydiers at the Kunstacademie in Wetteren, she discovered the beauty of chamber music, which has since held a central place in her life.
As a soloist, An-Sofie has performed with various orchestras and ensembles, including Artis Dulcedo, the Orfeo Chamber Orchestra, the Ghent University Symphony Orchestra, and the LUCA Chamber Orchestra. These performances have taken her to prestigious venues such as Concertgebouw Brugge, deSingel in Antwerp, and De Bijloke in Ghent.
Her orchestral experience began with SOV Young, under the baton of Martijn Dendievel, where she served as concertmaster for two seasons. A particularly inspiring moment in her development came in 2019 when she joined RCO Young, the youth orchestra of the world-renowned Amsterdam Concertgebouw Orchestra. Under the direction of conductor Pablo Heras-Casado, 72 young musicians from around the world came together to perform works by Tchaikovsky, Glanert, and Mendelssohn.
In the following years, An-Sofie took on the role of concertmaster with several leading youth orchestras. From 2022 to March 2024, she was the concertmaster of Youth Orchestra Flanders, and in 2023, she was appointed concertmaster of the Mahler Student Festival Orchestra, where she explored the magic of Mahler symphonies. This past summer, she toured as concertmaster with the National Youth Orchestra of the Netherlands, led by Anthony Hermus. During this tour, they performed at the Konzerthaus Berlin and the Concertgebouw Amsterdam.
Additionally, An-Sofie is a sought-after guest violinist with ensembles such as the Brussels Philharmonic, the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, and the Ataneres Ensemble. As a chamber musician, she is a founding member of the Tínel Ensemble, established in 2022 with five fellow students. This flexible ensemble performs in various configurations, with string quartet, clarinet, and piano as its core. They perform regularly in Belgian venues and have attended masterclasses with the Quatuor Van Kuijk and the Ragazze Quartet.
She has also participated in masterclasses with renowned violinists such as Rainer Schmidt, Erik Schumann, Klara Flieder, Nicolas Dupont, Alexsey Semenenko, Felicity Lipman, Brian Lewis, Lisa Jacobs, and Mikhaïl Bezverkhny.
After completing her Bachelor’s degree, An-Sofie spent a year studying with Prof. Michael Foyle at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne. This academic year, she is completing her Master’s degree at LUCA School of Arts in Leuven under the guidance of Maximilian Lohse.
