Abdel Rahman El Bacha werd geboren in Beiroet in een familie van muzikanten en begon in 1967 met pianolessen bij Zvart Sarkissian. Op tienjarige leeftijd gaf hij zijn eerste concert met orkest. Als woonplaats koos hij Frankrijk vanwege zijn culturele affiniteit en ging naar het Nationaal Conservatorium voor Muziek in Parijs in de klas van Pierre Sancan. Hij behaalde er vier eerste prijzen, voor piano, kamermuziek, harmonie en contrapunt.
Sinds de onthulling van zijn talent op de Koningin Elisabethwedstrijd van België op 19-jarige leeftijd, die hij unaniem won, concerteerde hij op de meest prestigieuze locaties in Europa en de wereld.
Van het Mozarteum in Salzburg tot het Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Parijs, van het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam tot de Herkulessaal in München. Hij speelt als solist met onder meer de Berliner Philharmoniker, het Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, het Orchestre de Paris, het Orchestre National de France, het Philharmonic Orchestra van Radio France, het Nationaal Orkest van België, het Gulbenkian Lisbon Orchestra, het NHK Tokyo, het Orchestre de la Suisse Romande.
Zijn discografie is belangrijk, Abdel Rahman El Bacha ontving in 1983, uit handen van mevrouw Sergueï Prokofiev persoonlijk, de Grand Prix van de Charles Cros Academy voor de eerste werken van Prokofiev uitgegeven door Forlane. Voor ditzelfde label graveerde hij Bachconcerten, Ravelconcerten, werken van Schumann, Ravel, Schubert en Rachmaninov. Van Chopin nam hij de Complete Works voor solopiano op in chronologische volgorde evenals de werken voor piano en orkest met het Orchestre de Bretagne onder leiding van Stefan Sanderling.
In 2011 begon Abdel Rahman El Bacha een samenwerking met het label Mirare door werken voor solopiano van Prokofiev op te nemen, gevolgd in 2013 door de Complete Beethoven Pianosonates en in 2018 door de opname van zijn eigen composities voor piano solo, werken die nu worden uitgegeven door Éditions Delatour.
Abdel Rahman El Bacha heeft sinds 1981 de Frans-Libanese nationaliteit. In 1998 kende de minister van cultuur van de Franse Republiek hem de titel Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres toe. In 2002 reikte de president van de Libanese Republiek hem de Medal of the Order of Merit uit, de hoogste onderscheiding van zijn geboorteland. In februari 2019 werd hem door de Katholieke Universiteit Leuven een eredoctoraat toegekend.
Born in Beirut into a family of musicians, Abdel Rahman El Bacha began studying the piano in 1967 with Zvart Sarkissian. At 10 years old, he gave his first concert with an orchestra. He chose France due to cultural affinity and entered the National Conservatory of Music in Paris, in the class of Pierre Sancan, where he obtained four First Prizes (piano, chamber music, harmony, and counterpoint).
Since the dazzling revelation of his talent at the Queen Elisabeth Competition of Belgium at the age of 19, which he won unanimously, he has performed in the most prestigious venues in Europe and around the world.

In 2011, Abdel Rahman El Bacha began a collaboration with the Mirare label by recording works for solo piano by Prokofiev, followed in 2013 by the Complete Beethoven’s 32 Piano Sonatas, and then in 2018 by the recording of his own compositions for piano solo, works now published by Éditions Delatour.
Abdel Rahman El Bacha has held Franco-Lebanese nationality since 1981. In 1998, the Minister of Culture of the French Republic awarded him the title of Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres; in 2002, the President of the Lebanese Republic presented him with the Medal of the Order of Merit, the highest decoration of his native country. In February 2019, the International University of Louvain in Belgium awarded him an honorary doctorate.
