Akari Bastiaens is twaalf en is reeds een pianiste in hart en nieren. Al op zeer jonge leeftijd ontdekte ze de piano in de woonkamer en al snel bleek dat ze zeer veel muzikale aanleg had en ook een grote liefde voor het instrument. Daarnaast heeft ze een grote affiniteit met het podium. Akari geniet van het spelen voor publiek. Op het podium kan ze zich in haar eigen wereld verliezen. Dat bleek ook toen ze in 2019 op zesjarige leeftijd de jongste winnaar ooit werd van de Steinway & Sons prijs tijdens de Steinway Piano Competition in BOZAR.
Ondertussen deed Akari al heel wat podiumervaring op tijdens concerten en wedstrijden. Ze behaalde reeds verschillende prijzen op nationale en internationale podia waaronder onlangs de eerste prijs tijdens de International Piano Competition in Enschede (NL) en een tweede prijs tijdens de Internationale Pianowedstrijd van Geilenkrichen (DE)
Arte Amanti neemt een speciale plaats in in Akari’s piano carriere. Zo mocht ze reeds het voorprogramma spelen van onder andere Anna Federova en Sergei Redkin. Bovendien kon ze samen met Arte Amanti Kamerorkest het 5de pianoconcerto van J.S. Bach vertolken.
Akari heeft het geluk dat ze les kan volgen bij zeer gerenomeerde docenten. Haar basis opleiding volgt ze aan het Junior Conservatorium Maastricht waar ze pianoles heeft bij Joop Celis en ook theoretische vakken volgt. Daarnaast is ze sinds 2023 studente aan de Davidsbundler Music Academy in Den Haag waar ze bij Tatiana Abayeva en Borys Federov haar pianospel kan verdiepen. Ook prijst ze zich gelukkig dat ze af en toe inspiratie kan opdoen bij de grote pianomeesters Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden en Willem Brons.
Dromen doet Akari van een toekomst als concertpianiste en ze hoopt ooit in BOZAR de finale te mogen spelen van de Koningin Elisabeth wedstrijd. Maar daarnaast geniet ze volop van het leven, schoolgaan, lezen, knutselen en met haar jongere broer spelen.
Akari Bastiaens (12) is a pianist through and through. At a very young age, she discovered the piano in the living room, and it soon became clear that she had great musical talent and a deep love for the instrument. She also has a strong affinity for the stage, as Akari enjoys performing for an audience, where she can lose herself in her own world. This became evident in 2019, when at the age of six, she became the youngest-ever winner of the Steinway & Sons prize at the Steinway Piano Competition in BOZAR.
Since then, Akari has gained a lot of stage experience through concerts and competitions. She has won various prizes on national and international stages, including a recent first prize at the International Piano Competition in Enschede (Netherlands) and a second prize at the International Piano Competition in Geilenkrichen (Germany).
Arte Amanti holds a special place in Akari’s piano career. She has had the opportunity to perform the opening act for artists such as Anna Fedorova and Sergei Redkin. Additionally, she performed J.S. Bach’s 5th Piano Concerto with the Arte Amanti Chamber Orchestra.
Akari is fortunate to study with highly renowned teachers. She receives her primary education at the Junior Conservatory in Maastricht, where she takes piano lessons from Joop Celis and also studies theoretical subjects. Since 2023, she has also been a student at the Davidsbundler Music Academy in The Hague, where she further develops her piano skills under Tatiana Abayeva and Borys Federov. She also feels lucky to occasionally gain inspiration from master pianists Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden and Willem Brons.
Akari dreams of a future as a concert pianist and hopes one day to play in the finals of the Queen Elisabeth Competition at BOZAR. In the meantime, she fully enjoys life: going to school, reading, crafting, and playing with her younger brother.
