Akari Bastiaens heeft ondanks haar jonge leeftijd al heel wat podiumervaring. De jury van de ‘Steinway Piano Competition Belgium’ beschreef haar als een witte raaf na haar optreden tijdens de finale in Bozar te Brussel. Op slechts zesjarige leeftijd wist ze de hele Henri Le Boeuf zaal met haar piano klanken te vullen. Het optreden was zo overtuigend dat de jury haar naast de eerste prijs in haar eigen categorie ook beloonde met de ‘Steinway & Sons prijs’ en ze bovendien België mocht vertegenwoordigen tijdens het eerstvolgende ‘Steinway Piano Festival te Hamburg’. Ondertussen is Akari nog verschillende malen op nationaal en internationaal niveau in de prijzen gevallen.
Het gaat Akari echter vooral over het spelen op het podium. Haar droom is om nu en later in vele mooie zalen te mogen spelen voor een groot publiek. Dit zowel als soliste als in kamermuziek verband. Een van haar grootste muzikale momenten was het vertolken van Johann Sebastian Bach’s vijfde klavier concert samen met het Arte Amanti kamerorkest in het festival van 2022. En dat smaakt natuurlijk naar meer.
Naast haar wekelijkse lessen aan het Junior Conservatorium Maastricht bij Joop Celis volgt Akari sinds september 2022 ook lessen bij Borys Federov en Tatiana Abayeva in de Davidsbundler Academy te Den Haag. Zij leerde deze twee inspirerende docenten kennen tijdens een van de optredens in het ‘Arte Amanti Kamermuziek Festival’ waar ze het voorprogramma mocht spelen voor Anna Federova en Nicky Schwarz.
Akari geniet met volle teugen van het leven in alles wat ze doet, naar school gaan, piano spelen, boeken lezen, tekenen en knutselen maar vooral in de momenten samen met haar broertje Takumi.
Despite her young age, Akari Bastiaens already has a lot of stage experience. The jury of the ‘Steinway Piano Competition Belgium’ described her as a white raven after her performance during the finals in Bozar in Brussels. At the age of only six, she managed to fill the entire Henri Le Boeuf hall with her piano sounds. The performance was so convincing that, in addition to the first prize in her own category, the jury also awarded her the ‘Steinway & Sons Prize’ and she was also allowed to represent Belgium at the next ‘Steinway Piano Festival in Hamburg’. In the meantime, Akari has won several awards at national and international level.
However, Akari is mostly about performing on stage. Her dream is to be able to play in many beautiful halls for a large audience now and later. This both as a soloist and in chamber music. One of her greatest musical moments was performing Johann Sebastian Bach’s fifth concerto together with the Arte Amanti chamber orchestra during the 2022 festival.
In addition to her weekly lessons at the Junior Conservatorium Maastricht with Joop Celis, Akari has also been taking lessons with Borys Federov and Tatiana Abayeva at the Davidsbundler Academy in The Hague since September 2022. She got to know these two inspiring teachers during one of her performances at the ‘Arte Amanti Chamber Music Festival’, where she was the support act for Anna Federova and Nicky Schwarz.
Akari enjoys life to the fullest in everything she does, going to school, playing the piano, reading books, drawing and crafts, but especially in the moments with her brother Takumi.
