Alissa Margulis wordt gewaardeerd om haar expressieve en zeer emotionele uitvoeringen en speelt regelmatig in belangrijke concertzalen zoals de Berliner Philharmonie, Carnegie Hall, het Kennedy Center, Tchaikovsky Hall Moscow, het Paleis voor Schone Kunsten in Brussel, de Weense Musikverein, Sumida Triphony Hall Tokyo, de Tonhalle Zürich en vele andere.
Alissa Margulis is geboren in Duitsland in een familie van Russische muzikanten. Ze studeerde in Keulen bij Zakhar Bron, in Brussel bij Augustin Dumay en in Wenen bij Pavel Vernikov. Ze won talrijke prijzen op internationale vioolwedstrijden en ontving de ‘Pro Europa-prijs’ van de European Arts Foundation die haar werd uitgereikt door Daniel Barenboim in Berlijn.
Ze maakte haar eerste publieke optreden op zevenjarige leeftijd met de Budapest Soloists en trad sindsdien op met tal van orkesten als het English Chamber Orchestra, New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre National d’Ile de France, New Russia Orchestra, Belgian National Orchestra, de Philharmonic Orchestras of Kiev, Minsk en Novosibirsk, het Vienna Chamber Orchestra, de Moscow Soloists, de Kremerata Baltica en vele andere.
Alissa werkte samen met tal van bekende dirigenten als Ivor Bolton, Jacques Mercier, Jaap van Zweden, Enrique Mazzola, Daniel Raiskin, François-Xavier Roth, Lars Vogt, Stanislav Kochanovsky, Yuri Bashmet, Gidon Kremer, Augustin Dumay en Mikko Franck.
Naast haar solocarrière is Alissa een enthousiaste kamermuzikante en werkt ze samen met artiesten als Martha Argerich, Yuri Bashmet, Ivry Gitlis, Gidon Kremer, Mischa Maisky, Jean-Guihen Queyras, Alexandre Tharaud, Stephen Kovacevich, Paul Badura-Skoda en Lars Vogt.
Ze speelde op verschillende festivals, met name op het ‘Enescu Festival Boekarest’, het ‘Jerusalem Chamber Music Festival’, het ‘Menuhin Festival Gstaad’, op de ‘Mozartwoche Salzburg’, ‘Progetto Martha Argerich Festival’ en het ‘Verbier Festival’.
Haar discografie omvat meer dan een dozijn cd’s bij labels als EMI Classics, Oehms, Novalis, Avanti Classic en CAvi. Twee van de zes EMI Classics-releases van de ‘Martha Argerich and Friends -serie’ ontvingen een ‘GRAMMY-nominatie’ en verscheidene anderen wonnen de ‘Diapason d’or’. Ze maakte opnamen met muzikanten als Myriam Fuks, Roby Lakatos, Evgeny Kissin, Polina Leschenko, Martha Argerich en Mischa Maisky.
Afgelopen seizoen speelde ze concerten in Duitsland, Oostenrijk, België, Griekenland, Rusland, Zuid-Afrika, Nederland, Zwitserland, de VS, Italië, Frankrijk op podia zoals de Philharmonie de Paris, de Tchaikovsky-Hall Moskou en het ‘Verbier Festival’, naast vele anderen.
Appreciated for her expressive and very emotional performances, Alissa Margulis regularly plays in important concert halls such as the Berlin Philharmony, Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, Tchaikovsky Hall Moscow, Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels, Vienna Musikverein, Sumida Triphony Hall Tokyo, Tonhalle Zurich and many others.
Born in Germany into a family of Russian musicians, Alissa studied in Cologne with Zakhar Bron, in Brussels with Augustin Dumay and in Vienna with Pavel Vernikov. She won numerous prizes at international violin competitions and was awarded with the “Pro Europa” prize of the European Arts Foundation which was presented to her by Daniel Barenboim in Berlin.
She made her first public appearance at the age of seven with the Budapest Soloists and has performed since then with numerous orchestras such as the English Chamber Orchestra, New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre National d’Ile de France, New Russia Orchestra, Belgian National Orchestra, the Philharmonic Orchestras of Kiev, Minsk and Novosibirsk, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Moscow Soloists and the Kremerata Baltica, amongst many others.
