Babette Craens (°17/11/1998) is met piano gestart op 5-jarige leeftijd bij Mevr. Vinciane Meert aan de SAMWD Sint-Niklaas tot en met de Middelbare Graad 2. Ze behaalde voor elke graad de grootste onderscheiding. Op 14-jarige leeftijd vervolgde zij haar pianostudies bij Mevr. Heidi Hendrickx en Dhr. Levente Kende in de jong talentenklas aan de MA’GO Antwerpen tot in het jaar 2016, met als resultaat een grootste onderscheiding op het einde van elk schooljaar. In de Kunsthumaniora kreeg Babette vanaf 2014 ook les van Nicolas Callot. Daar heeft zij voor haar eindproject in 2016 met orkest het eerste concerto van Beethoven gespeeld.
Op 17-jarige leeftijd begon Babette haar studies aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium van Antwerpen in de klas van dhr. Sergei Edelman na toelating met grootste onderscheiding, en rondde de eerste twee studiejaren af met grote onderscheiding. Zij behaalde haar bachelor met grote onderscheiding in de klas van Eliane Rodrigues. Momenteel zit zij in haar tweede master piano met specialisatie coaching en begeleiding bij pianolerares, repetitor en liedpianiste Jeanne-Minette Cilliers. Zij speelt dus bovenop het normale pianorepertoire ook veel kamermuziek, opera, lied en artsong met zangers.
Babette is eveneens laureaat van verschillende wedstrijden zoals VLAMO, Brodelet, en de Steinway piano wedstrijd waar zij een tweede plaats behaalde in de hoogste categorie. Babette heeft ook heel wat masterclasses achter de rug bij o.a. Pascal Sigrist, Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden, Bernd Goetzke, Eliane Reyes, Mi-Joo Lee.

Babette Craens (° 17/11/1998) started playing the piano at the age of 5 with mrs. Vinciane Meert at the SAMWD Sint-Niklaas until the Second Grade 2. She completed each grade with the greatest distinction. At the age of 14 she pursued her piano studies with mrs. Heidi Hendrickx and Mr. Levente Kende in the young talent class at the MA’GO Antwerp until the year 2016, resulting in the highest distinction at the end of each school year. In the kunsthumaniora, Babette also took lessons with Nicolas Callot from 2014 onwards, and for her final project in 2016 she played the first Beethoven concerto with orchestra.
At the age of 17 Babette started her studies at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp in the class of Mr. Sergei Edelman after admission with highest distinction, and completed each of the first two years with great distinction. She obtained her bachelor’s degree with magna cum laude in the class of Eliane Rodrigues. She is currently studying in her second master’s degree for piano, specializing in coaching and accompaniment by piano teacher, rehearsal coach and lied accompanist Jeanne-Minette Cilliers. So on top of the normal piano repertoire she also plays a lot of chamber music, opera, lieder and artsong with singers.
Babette is also a laureate of several competitions such as VLAMO, Brodelet, and the Steinway piano competition where she obtained the second place in the highest category. Babette also took several masterclasses with Pascal Sigrist, Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden, Bernd Goetzke, Eliane Reyes, Mi-Joo Lee, among others.
