Benjamin Heymans koos op negenjarige leeftijd voor contrabas aan de Academie voor Muziek en Woord te Wilrijk. Hij zette zijn muzikale studies verder aan de!kunsthumaniora te Antwerpen en het Koninklijk Conservatorium Antwerpen. Vervolgens werd hij toegelaten voor een Master in Music aan de Hochschule für Musik und Theater ‘Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy’ Leipzig in de klas van Professor Frithjof-Martin Grabner. Benjamin volgde masterclasses bij onder andere Dominic Seldis, Jeff Bradetich, Rick Stotijn, François Rabbath, Bozo Paradzik, Wies De Boevé, David Desimpelaere en Dorin Marc.
Benjamin speelde met het Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, Brussels Philharmonic, Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, deCompagnie, Casco Phil, I Solisti, Vlaams Sinfonietta en Les Symphonistes Européens.
Hij nam deel aan tal van Internationale stages zoals Musica Mundi, IOIA een project van de Wiener Philharmoniker en het Orlando Festival.
Momenteel is Benjamin lid van de Young Belgian Strings en het Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester.

Benjamin Heymans chose the double-bass at the age of 9 years old at the Academy. At the age of 14 he resolutely dedicated himself to an education in classical music at the !Kunsthumaniora (Secondary school for Arts) in Antwerp where he graduated summa cum laude under Lode Leire. He continued his studies at the Royal Conservatory in Antwerp with Lode Leire. Now he is enrolled as a master student at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater ‘Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy` in Leipzig. He attended masterclasses with François Rabbath, Rick Stotijn, Wies de Boevé, Jeff Bradetich, Domenic Seldis, Dorin Marc and David Desimpelaere amongst others.
Benjamin played with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, Brussels Philharmonic, Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, deCompagnie, Casco Phil, I Solisti, Vlaams Sinfonietta and Les Symphonistes Européens.
Momentarily he is a member of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester and the Young Belgian Strings.
