Dana Zemtsov werd geboren in 1992 in Mexico-Stad. Als vijfjarige kreeg zij haar eerste muzieklessen van haar grootmoeder en van haar ouders, beide altviolisten (Mikhail Zemtsov en Julia Dinerstein). Ze studeerde later in het Koninklijk Conservatorium van Den Haag bij Hans Scheepers. Op haar twaalfde stapte ze over naar altviool. Ze heeft masterclasses gevolgd bij gerenommeerde professoren zoals Bruno Giuranna, Atar Arad en Sven Arne Tepl. Dana maakte haar bachelor af met Cum Laude en werkt dit jaar haar masters af bij de bekende altviool virtuoos Michael Kugel in het Conservatorium van Maastricht.
Dana is eersteprijswinnaar in diverse competities in Luxemburg, Italië, Oostenrijk, Duitsland, Portugal en Nederland. In 2010 werd ze in de Nederlandse competitie “Avond van de Jonge Musicus” verkozen tot “Jonge Musicus van het Jaar” en vertegenwoordigde Nederland bij de “Eurovision Young Musicians Competition” in Wenen. In 2014 kreeg Dana een vioolbeurs ter waarde van 15.000 euro van het prestigieuze Kersjesfonds.
Dana treedt regelmatig op op de grootste internationale podia en speelde reeds samen met gerenommeerde musici als Janine Jansen, Giovanni Sollima, Martin Frost, Ilya Gringolts en pianist Boris Berezovsky. Als solist speelde Dana onder meer met het Ukrainian National Philharmonic Orchestra, Holland Symfonia, Sweelink Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonia Rotterdam, het F. Busoni Chamber Orchestra, en andere.
Op internationale tournees reisde Dana af naar Denemarken, Peru en de VS. Ze nam samen met de meest veelbelovende jonge talenten van Europa deel aan de “Stars of Tomorrow” tour in Duitsland (2011). Ze speelde op de grootste festivals in Nederland, Finland, Ierland en Noorwegen. In 2016 werd Dana uitgenodigd bij het 43e ‘International Viola Congress’ in Cremona (Italie) met de titel van ‘Honorary Guest’ samen met altvioolsterren Ettore Causa, Bruno Giuranna en Tabea Zimmerman.
Recentelijk tekende ze een exclusief platencontract met Channel Classics Records voor drie Cd’s, waarvan de eerste twee, “Enigma” en “Romantic Metamorphoses” met pianiste Cathelijne Noorland, zeer goed ontvangen werden. Onlangs heeft Dana haar derde CD opgenomen met het Ests Nationaal Orkest in Tallinn en met dirigent Daniel Raiskin.
Dana was born in Mexico City in 1992. As a five-year-old she received her first music lessons from her grandmother and her parents, both viola players (Mikhail Zemtsov and Julia Dinerstein). She later studied at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague with Hans Scheepers. At the age of twelve she switched to viola. She has taken master classes with renowned professors such as Bruno Giuranna, Atar Arad and Sven Arne Tepl. Dana graduated cum laude and is completing her masters this year with the renowned viola virtuoso Michael Kugel at the Maastricht Conservatory.
Dana is first prize winner in various competitions in Luxembourg, Italy, Austria, Germany, Portugal and the Netherlands. In 2010 she was elected “Young Musician of the Year” in the Dutch competition “Evening of the Young Musician” and represented the Netherlands at the “Eurovision Young Musicians Competition” in Vienna. In 2014 Dana received the violin grant worth 15,000 euro from the prestigious Kersjes Fund.
Dana regularly performs at the largest international stages and has performed with renowned musicians such as Janine Jansen, Giovanni Sollima, Martin Frost, Ilya Gringolts and pianist Boris Berezovsky. As a soloist, Dana has played with the Ukrainian National Philharmonic Orchestra, Holland Symfonia, Sweelink Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonia Rotterdam, the F. Busoni Chamber Orchestra, and others.
On international tours Dana travelled to Denmark, Peru and the USA. She took part in the “Stars of Tomorrow” tour in Germany (2011) together with the most promising young talents in Europe. She played at the largest festivals in the Netherlands, Finland, Ireland and Norway. She recently signed an exclusive recording contract with Channel Classics Records for three CDs, the first two, “Enigma” and “Romantic Metamorphoses” with pianist Cathelijne Noorland, were very well received. Dana recently recorded her third CD with the Estonian National Orchestra in Tallinn and with conductor Daniel Raiskin.
