    Elina Buksha is een Letse concertvioliste die door The Strad Magazine wordt beschreven als “vermogen tot fantasie en verhalen vertellen”, en “zeer overtuigend in technische behendigheid en individualiteit”. Ze was de winnaar van de Kulturkreis Gasteig Musikpreis 2019 in München en in 2020 werd ze geselecteerd om deel uit te maken van de selectie van City Music Foundation Artists in Londen.

    Ze trad op in tal van grote concertzalen, waaronder de Wigmore Hall in Londen, het Auditorium du Louvre in Parijs, de Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, het Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussel en de Tsjaikovski Concert Hall in Moskou. Ze werd uitgenodigd op festivals als het Festival de Wallonie (België), het International Music Festival in Yaroslavl (geregisseerd door Yuri Bashmet), Rheingau Musik Festival (Duitsland), Rencontres Musicales d’Évian (Frankrijk) en het Marvao International Music Festival , en andere.

    Als soliste trad Elina op met vele orkesten, waaronder I Virtuosi del Teatro alla Scala, het Lets National Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonietta Riga, Sinfonia Varsovia, het Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège, Tatarstan National Symphony Orchestra, Südwestdeutsche, Philharmonie Konstanz, Bad Reichenhall Philharmonie, Musica Viva Chamber Orchestra, Moskou, en het Kansai Philharmonic Orchestra (Japan). Ze nam vioolconcerten van Saint-Saëns en Lalo op voor het Alpha-label.

    Elina trad op met artiesten als Maria João Pires, Midori, Augustin Dumay, Frank Braley, Gary Hoffman, Henri Demarquette, Gérard Caussé, Roby Lakatos, het Modigliani Quartet, het Calidore String Quartet, het Hermès Quartet en anderen.

    Elina is enorm dankbaar voor de input en begeleiding van verschillende docenten en mentoren tijdens haar opleiding. Ze begon viool te spelen op vijfjarige leeftijd voordat ze ging studeren aan de Belgische Muziekkapel Koningin Elisabeth onder leiding van Augustin Dumay. In 2017 begon ze te studeren bij Christoph Poppen aan de Hochschule für Musik und Theater München. Ze zette haar studie verder bij de vermaarde violiste Midori en volgde masterclasses bij Ana Chumachenco.

    Naast haar carrière als concertsolist is Elina geïnteresseerd in het samenspel van geluid en geur, en bekommert ze zich om een project rond muziek en parfum.

    Elina bespeelt een Vincenzo Panormo viool uit 1800, royaal in bruikleen gekregen vanwege  de Harrison Frank Foundation.


    Elina Buksha is a Latvian concert violinist described by The Strad Magazine as having “capacity for fantasy and storytelling”, and being “highly persuasive in technical agility and individuality”. She was the winner of the 2019 Kulturkreis Gasteig Musikpreis in Munich and in 2020 she was selected to join the roster of City Music Foundation Artists in London.

    She has appeared in numerous major concert halls, including the Wigmore Hall in London, Auditorium du Louvre in Paris, Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, Palais de Beaux Arts in Brussels and the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow. She has performed in such festivals as the Festival de Wallonie (Belgium), the International Music Festival in Yaroslavl (directed by Yuri Bashmet), Rheingau Musik Festival (Germany), Rencontres Musicales d’Évian (France), and the Marvao International Music Festival, among others.

    As a soloist, Elina has performed with many orchestras, including I Virtuosi del Teatro alla Scala, the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonietta Riga, Sinfonia Varsovia, the Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège, Tatarstan National Symphony Orchestra, Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie Konstanz, Bad Reichenhall Philharmonie, Musica Viva Chamber Orchestra, Moscow, and the Kansai Philharmonic Orchestra (Japan). She has recorded Saint-Saëns and Lalo violin concerti for the Alpha label.

    Elina has performed alongside such artists as Maria João Pires, Midori, Augustin Dumay, Frank Braley, Gary Hoffman, Henri Demarquette, Gérard Caussé, Roby Lakatos, the Modigliani Quartet, Calidore String Quartet, Hermès Quartet and others.

    Elina is immensely grateful for the input and guidance of several teachers and mentors throughout her education. She began playing the violin at the age of five before proceeding to study at Belgium’s Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel under the direction of Augustin Dumay. In 2017 she began studying with Christoph Poppen at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München. She has continued her studies with the renowned violinist Midori and has benefitted from masterclasses with Ana Chumachenco.

    Alongside her career as a concert soloist, Elina is interested in the interplay of sound and smell, and is curating a project centred on music and perfume.

    Elina plays a Vincenzo Panormo violin from 1800, generously on loan from the Harrison Frank Foundation.
