Georgi Anichenko werd geboren in Minsk, Wit-Rusland en begon op 5-jarige leeftijd cello te studeren aan het State Music College in Minsk in de klas van Vladimir Perlin. Toen hij 8 jaar was, speelde hij voor het eerst op een Europees tournee. Als 15-jarige begon Georgi zijn verdere studies aan het Nationale Hoger Conservatorium in Parijs in de klas van Philippe Muller en later vervolgde hij zijn postgraduaat bij Jerôme Pernoo.
Georgi won meerdere prijzen in internationale wedstrijden. In 1996 ontving hij de 1e prijs in de Internationale Competitie voor Jonge Muzikanten in Moskou, in 1997 won hij de prijs voor virtuositeit in de Internationale Junior Tchaikovsky Wedstrijd in Sint-Petersburg en hij won de 2e prijs in de André Navarra Internationale Cello Wedstrijd in Frankrijk, de 2e prijs in de Lutoslawski Internationale Cello Wedstrijd in Polen, de 4e prijs in de Isang Yun Internationale Cello Wedstrijd in Zuid-Korea, de 1e prijs in de Unisa International Strings Competition in Zuid-Afrika en de 2e prijs in de Carlos Prieto Internationale Cello Wedstrijd in Mexico.
Georgi speelde in talrijke gerenommeerde zalen in Parijs, Brussel, Amsterdam, Moskou, Los Angeles, New York, Warschau en Zuid-Korea. Hij trad op in internationale festivals: La Folle Journée in Tokio, Kings Place Music Festival in Londen, het Colmar International Music Festival, in de Périgord Noir, in Saint-Riquier, in het Août Musical in Deauville, de Rencontres Musicales in Artois, Les Vacances de Monsieur Haydn in Frankrijk, het Pärnu Music Festival, het Martina Franca Music Festival en het Festival Groba in Spanje.
Georgi speelt in vast duo samen met de Russische pianiste Anastasya Terenkova. Hij is cello aanvoerder van het Orquesta de la Comunitat Valenciana in Spanje en op uitnodiging speelde hij als cello aanvoerder op rondreis met het radio Symfonisch Orkest van Frankfurt onder leiding van Neeme Järvi en van Paavo Järvi in Frankfurt, München, Wenen en Istanbul. Hij wordt regelmatig uitgenodigd als cello aanvoerder in het orkest van het Paavo Järvi Festival in Estland.
Sinds september 2017 is Georgi cello aanvoerder in het orkest van de Munt in Brussel.
Georgi Anichenko was born in Minsk, Belarus, and began studying cello at the State Music College in Minsk at the age of 5 in the class of Vladimir Perlin. When he was 8 years old he played for the first time on a European tour. At the age of 15, Georgi started his further studies at the National Higher Conservatory in Paris in the class of Philippe Muller and later continued his postgraduate studies with Jerôme Pernoo.
Georgi has won several prizes in international competitions. In 1996 he received the 1st prize in the International Competition for Young Musicians in Moscow and in 1997 he won the prize for virtuosity in the International Junior Tchaikovsky Competition in Sint Petersburg, he won the 2nd prize in the André Navarra International Cello Competition in France, the 2nd prize in the Lutoslawski International Cello Competition in Poland, the 4th prize in the Isang Yun International Cello Competition in South Korea, the 1st Prize in the Unisa International Strings Competition in South Africa and 2nd Prize in the Carlos Prieto International Cello Competition in Mexico.
Georgi has performed in many renowned halls in Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, Moscow, Los Angeles, New York, Warsaw and South Korea. Georgi plays in duo with the Russian pianist Anastasya Terenkova. He is cello leader of the Orquesta de la Comunitat Valenciana in Spain and upon invitation he played as cello leader on a tour with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Neeme Järvi and Paavo Järvi in Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna and Istanbul. He is regularly invited as cello leader in the orchestra of the Paavo Järvi Festival in Estonia.
Since September 2017, Georgi has been the cello leader in the orchestra of La Monnaie in Brussels.
