Georgia Koumentaku werd in 2012 in België geboren uit een Poolse moeder en een Griekse vader. Zij begon haar muzikale opleiding op drieënhalfjarige leeftijd en studeert sinds 2017 bij Erik Sluys, die haar artistieke ontwikkeling tot op vandaag begeleidt.
Vanaf haar zesde trad Georgia regelmatig op in concerten, waar zij al snel opviel door haar muzikale maturiteit. Een belangrijk keerpunt volgde in 2020 tijdens het Klassiek Leeft Jong Festival in Knokke, waar zij samen musiceerde met pianist Liebrecht Vanbeckevoort.
Georgia is laureate van talrijke nationale en internationale wedstrijden. In 2021 won zij de Wedstrijd voor Jonge Solisten. In 2022 maakte zij haar orkestdebuut aan het Lemmensinstituut met het Vioolconcerto van Mendelssohn. Datzelfde jaar behaalde zij zowel de Eerste Prijs als de Publieksprijs op de Crickboomwedstrijd. In 2023 was zij de enige Europese finalist van de Grumiauxwedstrijd en won zij opnieuw de Wedstrijd voor Jonge Solisten. Daarnaast ontving zij een Eerste Prijs en een Speciale Prijs op de J. Micka Competition in Praag. In 2024 werd zij laureate van de Breughelwedstrijd, eveneens bekroond met de Publieksprijs. In 2025 behaalde zij de Eerste Prijs op de prestigieuze Kocian Competition in Tsjechië en werd zij halvefinaliste van de Piccolo Violino Magico Competition.
Sinds 2022 wordt Georgia regelmatig uitgenodigd voor uiteenlopende projecten in België en Nederland, onder meer in Muziekcentrum De Bijloke en AMUZ. Zij werkte samen met verschillende Belgische en Nederlandse ensembles, waaronder Stringendo, Brussels Sinfonietta, Vlaams Kamerfilharmonisch Orkest, PhilZuid en Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen.
Georgia gaf reeds meerdere recitals en trad in de Koninklijke Bibliotheek van België op met een historische viool die toebehoorde aan Irma Sèthe, leerlinge van Eugène Ysaÿe. Zij volgde masterclasses bij vooraanstaande musici zoals Philippe Graffin, Tatiana Samouil, Boris Garlitsky, Vadim Sokolov, Alexey Prichin en Rachel Wilson.
Naast muziek leest Georgia graag, met een bijzondere interesse voor geschiedenis en poëzie, en schrijft zij zelf gedichten. Zij houdt van schaken en wetenschap en vindt inspiratie in de natuur, waar zij graag tijd doorbrengt met haar twee jongere zussen. Georgia spreekt vloeiend Pools, Grieks, Frans en Engels, heeft een goede kennis van het Nederlands en leert momenteel Spaans.
Zij speelt op een viool van Patrick Robin, ter beschikking gesteld door de Strings for Talents Foundation, en is beursgerechtigde van de Koning Boudewijnstichting.
Born in Belgium in 2012 to a Polish mother and a Greek father, Georgia began her musical journey at the age of three and a half. In 2017, she started studying with Erik Sluys, who continues to guide her artistic development.
From the age of six, Georgia appeared in many concerts, quickly standing out for her musical maturity. A major milestone came in 2020 at the Klassiek Leeft Jong Festival in Knokke, where she performed with pianist Liebrecht Vanbeckevoort.
Georgia is the laureate of numerous competitions. In 2021, she won the Jonge Solisten, and in 2022 she made her orchestral debut at the Lemmensinstituut with Mendelssohn’s Concerto. That same year, she received the First Prize and the Audience Prize at the Crickboom Competition. In 2023, she was the only European finalist at the Grumiaux Competition and won Jonge Solisten for the second time. She also received First Prize and a Special Award at the J. Micka Competition in Prague. In 2024, she won the Breughel Competition along with the Audience Prize. In 2025, she earned First Prize at the prestigious Kocian Competition in the Czech Republic and became a semi-finalist at the Piccolo Violino Magico Competition.
Since 2022, Georgia has been regularly invited to perform in a wide range of projects in Belgium and the Netherlands, including at Muziekcentrum De Bijloke and AMUZ. She has collaborated with several Belgian and Dutch ensembles, among them Stringendo, Brussels Sinfonietta, the Flemish Chamber Philharmonic, PhilZuid, and Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen.
Georgia has already given several recitals, and at the Royal Library of Belgium she performed on a historic violin once owned by Irma Sèthe, a student of E. Ysaÿe.
She has participated in masterclasses with eminent musicians such as Ph. Graffin, T. Samouil, B. Garlitsky, V. Sokolov, A. Prichin, and R. Wilson.
Beyond music, Georgia is an avid reader drawn to history and poetry, and she writes her own verses. She is passionate about chess and science. She finds inspiration in forests, mountains, and the sea, and often spends time outdoors with her two younger sisters. Georgia is fluent in Polish, Greek, French, and English, has good knowledge of Dutch, and is currently learning Spanish.
She plays a violin by Patrick Robin, provided by the Strings for Talents Foundation, and is a grant recipient of the King Baudouin Foundation.
