Huayu Gu begon op zevenjarige leeftijd met pianospelen. Na een jaar ging ze aan de Junior Classical Department (jongtalentenklas) van het Conservatorium van Maastricht studeren. Dit bij professor Joop Celis en professor Alejandro Serena Llinares.
Ze behaalde diverse prijzen op concoursen. In 2020 won ze de eerste prijs in de nationale finale van het ‘Princes Christina concours’. Op elfjarige leeftijd was ze de jongste winnaar ooit van deze competitie.
Daarnaast werd ze uitgenodigd om in tal van muziekfestivals en concerten op te treden, bijvoorbeeld het tv-programma Podium Witteman en het Grachtenfestival in Amsterdam.
Zij wordt beschouwd als een verfijnde pianiste met grote mogelijkheden, veel fantasie en klankkleur.
Huayu Gu began playing the piano at the age of seven. Shortly after a year, she enrolled in the Junior Classical Department (young talent class) at the Maastricht Conservatory. There, she studied piano under the guidance of Prof. Joop Celis and Prof. Alejandro Serena Llinares.
She achieved success in various competitions, notably winning the first prize in the national final of the Princes Christina competition in 2020. At the age of 11, she became the youngest winner in the history of this competition.
Additionally, she received invitations to perform at numerous music festivals and concerts, including appearances on the TV program Podium Witteman and the Grachtenfestival in Amsterdam.
Huayu is recognized as a refined pianist with a remarkable imagination and a wide range of timbre possibilities.
