Irina Zahharenkova is een van de belangrijkste hedendaagse klavierspelers van haar generatie in Estland. Ze won eerste prijzen in belangrijke internationale pianowedstrijden zoals de Internationale Johann Sebastian Bach Wedstrijd (Leipzig, 2006), de Alessandro Casagrande Internationale Piano Wedstrijd (Terni, 2006), de Internationale Wedstrijd George Enescu (Bucharest, 2005), en de Jaén Internationale Piano Wedstrijd (Jaén, 2004). In 2008 werd ze prijswinnaar in de Artur Rubinstein Master Competition in Tel Aviv. In 2007 verkreeg ze een beurs van de Borletti-Buitoni Trust.
Irina Zahharenkova behaalde haar Master diploma in de Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre bij Prof. Lilian Semper en in de Sibelius Academy in Finland bij Prof. Hui-Ying Líu-Tawaststjerna. Naast de moderne piano studeerde ze klavecimbel bij Prof. Maris Valk-Falk en pianoforte bij Prof. Pekka Vapaavuori. Irina was tevens laureate in de Lente Wedstrijd in Praag (2005) voor klavecimbel en in de Wedstrijd tijdens het Festival van Vlaanderen in Brugge (2004) voor Pianoforte.
Irina trad regelmatig solo op (piano en klavecimbel) in recitals in Europa en Japan, en speelde o.a. in het Klavier-Festival Ruhr, in het Spoleto Festival, het Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival, het Bergen International Festival en andere. Als soliste werkte ze samen met het Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, het Orchestre National de Lorraine, het Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, het Pilsen Philharmonic Orchestra, het Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, Het Prague Chamber Orchestra, het Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, het Sinfonia Finland en andere, en ze werkte samen met dirigenten zoals Juha Kangas, Dmitri Alexeev, Leif Segerstam, Patrick Gallaois, en anderen.
Naast haar concertoptredens geeft Irina Zahharenkova pianoles aan de Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre en in Finland aan de Sibelius Academy. Tevens werkt ze ook als begeleidster in de Kuopio Academy.
In 2010 realiseerde ze een live DVD-opname (klavecimbel, pianoforte en piano) op het Glasperlenspiel Festival in Tartu (Estland), een CD met de Goldberg Variaties van Bach, en in 2012 een CD met sonates van Scarlatti.
Naast de hoger vermelde prijzen was Irina ook laureate in de M.K. Ciurlionis International Piano Wedstrijd (Vilnius 2003), de Epinal International Piano Wedstrijd (Epinal 2005), de Geneva International Piano Wedstrijd (Genève 2005), en de Villa-Lobos International Piano Wedstrijd (Sao Paulo 2006).
Irina Zahharenkova is one of the most important contemporary keyboard players of her generation in Estonia. She has won first prizes in major international piano competitions such as the International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition (Leipzig 2006), the Alessandro Casagrande International Piano Competition (Terni 2006), the George Enescu International Competition (Bucharest 2005), and the Jaén International Piano Competition (Jaén 2004). In 2008 she became a prize winner in the Artur Rubinstein Master Competition in Tel Aviv. In 2007 she obtained a grant from the Borletti-Buitoni Trust.
Irina Zahharenkova received her Master degree in the Estonian Academy of Music and Theater with Prof. Lilian Semper and in the Sibelius Academy in Finland with Prof. Hui-Ying Líu-Tawaststjerna. Besides the modern piano she studied harpsichord with Prof. Maris Valk-Falk and pianoforte with Prof. Pekka Vapaavuori. Irina was also laureate in the Spring Competition in Prague (2005) for harpsichord and in the Competition during the Festival of Flanders in Bruges (2004) for Pianoforte.
Irina has regularly performed solo (piano and harpsichord) in recitals in Europe and Japan, and has played, among others, at the Klavier-Festival Ruhr, the Spoleto Festival, the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival, the Bergen International Festival and others.
