Jacob Van Durme (°2003) volgde zijn eerste cellolessen bij Liesbet Engelen. Van 2011 tot 2019 zat hij in de klas van Chantal Suys aan de Academie voor Podiumkunsten in Gent. In het academiejaar 19-20 begon hij zijn hogere opleiding bij Judith Ermert aan de School of Arts in Gent. Vanaf 20-21 zit hij als Jong Talent in de klas van Jeroen Reuling aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium van Brussel. Tegelijkertijd volgt hij de richting Latijn-Moderne Talen aan het Sint-Janscollege in Gent.
In de voorbije jaren kreeg hij de kans masterclasses en lessen te volgen bij o.a. Andreas Brantelid, Justus Grimm, Alexandr Khramouchin, en Jerôme Pernoo.
In januari 2019 won Jacob Van Durme de publieksprijs en daardoor een finaleplaats voor de Canvas-wedstrijd Speel het Hard. In het zelfde jaar was hij finalist van de VLAMO wedstrijd in deSingel. In het voorjaar 2020 nam Jacob deel aan de Breughel Muziekwedstrijd en de Edmond Baert cellowedstrijd.
Jacob Van Durme is lid van SOV Young, het jeugdorkest van Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen, waarmee hij al een aantal projecten speelde. In 2020 werd hij opgenomen in de selectie van RCO Young, het jeugdorkest van het Concertgebouworkest in Amsterdam.
In kamermuziekverband trad hij op met zijn broer, violist Anton Van Durme en pianiste Yanna Penson, het Colbrandt Trio. Hij was te gast als jong talent in de Arte Amanti concertreeks van 2019. In 2020 volgde hij de zomerstage kamermuziek bij Musica Mundi in Waterloo.

In the academic year 19-20 he started his higher education with Judith Ermert at the School of Arts in Ghent. From 20-21 on, he is in the class of Jeroen Reuling at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels as a Young Talent. At the same time, he studies Latin & Modern Languages at the Sint-Janscollege in Ghent.
In recent years he has had the opportunity to take masterclasses and lessons with Andreas Brantelid, Justus Grimm, Alexandr Khramouchin, and Jerôme Pernoo, among others.
In January 2019 Jacob Van Durme won the “audience award” and therefore a place in the finals of the Canvas competition “Play it Hard”. In the same year he was a finalist of the VLAMO competition in deSingel. In the spring of 2020, Jacob took part in the Breughel Music Competition and the Edmond Baert cello competition.
Jacob Van Durme is a member of SOV Young, the youth orchestra of Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen, with which he has already played a number of projects. In 2020 he was included in the selection for RCO Young, the youth orchestra of the Concertgebouworkest in Amsterdam.
In chamber music he performes with his brother, violinist Anton Van Durme and pianist Yanna Penson, the Colbrandt Trio. He was a guest, as a young talent, in the Arte Amanti concert series of 2019. In 2020 he participated in the Chamber Music Summer School at Musica Mundi in Waterloo.
