    Jef Kolacny werd in 2003 geboren en begon op zijn vijfde met piano spelen. Muziek werd hem met de paplepel ingegeven door zijn vader Steven Kolacny en oom Stijn Kolacny.

    Zijn eerste noten leerde hij spelen in de plaatselijke academie van Aarschot. Toen hij zestien jaar oud was, begon hij privéles te volgen bij Jan Vermeulen. Nadat hij zijn humaniora in Aarschot afrondde, vervolgde hij zijn opleiding bij Jan Vermeulen, ditmaal aan het Lemmensinstituut in Leuven.

    Jef heeft in 2022 de gerenommeerde ‘Cantabile pianowedstrijd’ in Antwerpen gewonnen in de hogere graad, samen met de prijs van de beste uitvoering van het plichtwerk

    Naast zijn winst in Antwerpen, werd hij dat jaar ook laureaat finalist van de ‘Steinway Piano Competition Belgium’ in de Henry Le Boeuf zaal in Bozar. Daarnaast werd hij meermaals prijswinnaar op het ‘Concours de piano Andrée Charlier’, zo behaalde hij in 2021 de tweede prijs en in 2020 de derde prijs.

    Dit jaar maakt Jef zijn debuut als solist met orkest in de Singel te Antwerpen met het tweede concerto van Franz Liszt. Naast soloconcerten is hij ook actief in de kamermuziek met het Tínel Ensemble dat hij samen met vijf medemuzikanten heeft opgericht.

    Jef volgde op (inter)nationale stages les bij Shai Wosner, Vitaly Samoshko, Jura Margulis, Liebrecht Vanbeckeboort, Mateusz Borowiak, Sylvia Theraza, Julien Libeer en anderen.


    Jef Kolacny (°2003) started on his fifth playing the piano . Music got him with the spoon prompted by his father Steven Kolacny and uncle Stijn Kolacny . He learned to play his first notes in the local Aarschot academy .

    He learned to play his first notes at the local academy in Aarschot. When he was sixteen years old, he started taking private lessons with Jan Vermeulen. After completing his secondary education in Aarschot, he continued his education with Jan Vermeulen, this time at the Lemmens Institute in Leuven.

    Jef won the renowned ‘Cantabile piano competition’ in Antwerp in 2022 in the higher category, as well as the prize for the best performance of the compulsory work. He also became a laureate finalist of the ‘Steinway Piano Competition Belgium’ in the Henry Le Boeuf hall in Bozar that year. In addition, he was a multiple prize winner at the ‘Concours de piano Andrée Charlier’, winning second prize in 2021 and third prize in 2020.

    This year Jef makes his debut as a soloist with orchestra in the Singel in Antwerp with the second concerto by Franz Liszt. In addition to solo concerts, he is also active in chamber music with the Tínel Ensemble, which he founded together with five fellow musicians.

    Jef took lessons on (inter)national internships with Shai Wosner, Vitaly Samoshko, Jura Margulis, Liebrecht Vanbeckeboort, Mateusz Borowiak, Sylvia Theraza, Julien Libeer and others.
