Violist Joshua Brown wordt internationaal geroemd om zijn rijke klank, verfijnde interpretaties en intense muzikale betrokkenheid. La Libre prees zijn spel om de “rijkdom van klank, elegantie van lezing en de volledige toewijding van elk moment aan het werk.” In 2025 ontving hij een Avery Fisher Career Grant, een erkenning voor uitzonderlijk artistiek talent.
Joshua kreeg wereldwijde aandacht na het behalen van de Tweede Prijs en beide Publieksprijzen op de Koningin Elisabethwedstrijd 2024 in Brussel. Eerdere concoursuccessen zijn onder meer de Eerste Prijs op het Global Music Education International Violin Competition 2023 in Beijing en de Eerste Prijs en Publieksprijs op het Leopold Mozart International Violin Competition 2019 in Augsburg. Hij is laureaat van de CAG Louis and Susan Meisel Prize 2025 en wordt momenteel vertegenwoordigd door Concert Artists Guild.
Na zijn veelgeprezen debuut bij het Cleveland Orchestra trad Joshua op als solist met talrijke orkesten wereldwijd, waaronder het Munich Radio Orchestra, MDR Sinfonieorchester, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, het Belgisch Nationaal Orkest en het Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège. The Strad schreef over zijn Brahms-uitvoering in Beijing dat hij “zijdeachtige, gewichtloze frasen” liet horen, terwijl Le Soir hem omschreef als “een echte musicus, met grote gevoeligheid en gevoel voor nuance.”
Naast zijn solistische carrière is Joshua een gepassioneerd recitalist en kamermusicus. Hij trad op in gerenommeerde reeksen en festivals zoals de Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series in Chicago en Festival Musiq3 in Brussel. Tot zijn onderscheidingen behoren de Manfred Grommek Prijs 2023 van de Kronberg Academy. Daarnaast is hij Pirastro Artist, Yamaha Young Performing Artist en Luminarts Fellow.
Joshua volgt momenteel een Artist Diploma aan het New England Conservatory, waar hij eerder ook zijn bachelor- en masterdiploma behaalde bij Donald Weilerstein. Hij bespeelt een uitzonderlijke Nicolo Amati-viool (ca. 1635–1640), hem ter beschikking gesteld door de Mary B. Galvin Foundation via de Stradivari Society.

Joshua rose to international prominence after winning Second Prize and both Audience Awards at the 2024 Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels. His competition successes also include First Prize at the 2023 Global Music Education International Violin Competition in Beijing and First Prize and Audience Award at the 2019 Leopold Mozart International Violin Competition in Augsburg. He is a 2025 recipient of the CAG Louis and Susan Meisel Prize and is currently represented by Concert Artists Guild.
First recognized following his debut with the Cleveland Orchestra, Joshua has since appeared regularly as a soloist with leading orchestras worldwide, including the Munich Radio Orchestra, MDR Sinfonieorchester, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Belgian National Orchestra, and Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège. The Strad praised his Brahms Concerto performance in Beijing for its “silky, weightless phrases,” while Le Soir hailed him as “a real musician, of great sensitivity,” and the Indianapolis Star described his sound as “addictive and shimmering.”
An avid recitalist and chamber musician, Joshua has appeared in major series and festivals across Europe, North America, and Asia, including the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series in Chicago and Festival Musiq3 in Brussels. His honors include the 2023 Manfred Grommek Prize from Kronberg Academy, and he is a Pirastro Artist, Yamaha Young Performing Artist, and Luminarts Fellow.
Joshua is currently pursuing an Artist Diploma at the New England Conservatory, where he also completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, studying with Donald Weilerstein. He performs on a Nicolo Amati violin (c. 1635–1640), generously loaned by the Mary B. Galvin Foundation through the Stradivari Society.
