Judith Ermert heeft een internationale carrière als soliste én als kamermusicus.
Zij bezielt “…met eigen stem en stempel. Van bij de eerste toon spitst men geboeid de oren. En deze toon is fors, maar nooit geforceerd. Bravo!” (Süddeutsche Zeitung ). De Bangkok Post beschreef haar als “…een buitengewoon muzikaal en technisch talent!“ en de WDR prijst niet alleen haar “absolute wil tot uitbeelding“ maar ook het “vermogen haar ideeën authentiek te voltooien“.
Het parcours van de Duitse celliste Judith Ermert begon reeds op jonge leeftijd. Zij was solocelliste van het Jeunesse Musicales Wereld Orkest met concerten o.a. in de Berliner Philharmonie en het Wiener Konzerthaus en treed sinds haar jeugd regelmatig op als soliste met gerenommeerde orkesten zoals Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra, Kammerphilharmonie Danzig, Südwestdeutsches Kammerorchester Pforzheim, Thüringen Philharmonie Gotha, Moldova State Philharmonic, Chamber Orchestra Leopoldinum, Sinfonietta Keulen en Detmolder Kammerorchester. Hoogtepunt van het laatste seizoen was o.a. het Brahms dubbelconcerto met violiste Ning Kam en het Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra in Thailand Cultural Center Bangkok.
Judith Ermert studeerde aan de Folkwang Hochschule in Essen bij Young- Chang Cho en Christoph Richter en perfectioneerde zich aansluitend in de prestigieuze klas van Ralph Kirshbaum aan het Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. De ontmoeting en studies bij Siegfried Palm inspireerde haar, zodat ze zich met veel passie ook aan het hedendaags repertoire ging wijden. In 2013 verscheen haar eerste Hindemith CD samen met de Belgische pianist Daan Vandewalle (Fuga Libera). Een opname die internationaal uitstekend onthaald werd: “Een uitvoering van technische perfectie, grote muzikaliteit en vorstelijke sonoriteit.“ (Diapason). Tijdens het Hindemith-jaar werd de CD o.a. door het Gramophone Magazine als „excellente keuze“ aanbevolen en bovendien genomineerd voor de „Listener’s Choice Award“ van de Violoncello Foundation New York. Hij haalde in 2013 ook de Top Tien Klassiek (eindejaarslijst van KNACK) .
Op 26-jarige leeftijd werd Judith Ermert benoemd als solo cello van de Brussels Philharmonic. Een jaar later werd ze docente aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium van Gent, waar ze aan het hoofd staat van een internationale celloklas. Ze geeft eveneens masterclasses over de hele wereld. De celliste was vele jaren vicevoorzitter van ESTA Vlaanderen en is bovendien zeer toegewijd aan de initiatie “Rhapsody in School“ van Lars Vogt en aan verschillende sociaal-artistieke projecten georganiseerd door Uana vzw.

As soloist and chamber musician Judith Ermert performs internationally: The cellist thrills: “With a distinctive voice and an original mind, the listener is spellbound from the very first note … a tone that is powerful but never forced.” (Süddeutsche Zeitung). The Bangkok Post describes her as “…extraordinary musical and technical talent…” and the WDR praises not only her “utter will to shape”, but also “the ability to accomplish her ideas authentically”.
Having been the principal cellist of the Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra with concerts at i.a. the Berliner Philharmonie and Wiener Konzerthaus, Judith Ermert also occurs regularly as a soloist with renowned orchestras since her early youth, such as i.a. Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra, Kammerphilharmonie Danzig, Südwestdeutsches Kammerorchester Pforzheim, Thüringen Philharmonie Gotha, Moldova State Philharmonic, Chamber Orchestra Leopoldinum, Sinfonietta Köln and Detmolder Kammerorchester.
Judith Ermert has graduated from the Folkwang Hochschule Essen studying with Young Chang Cho and Christoph Richter and perfected her skills afterwards in the prestigious class of Ralph Kirshbaum at the Royal Northern College of Music Manchester. Encountering and working with Siegfried Palm she acquired a taste for devoting herself also to the music of our time at young age.
In 2013 she released on the label Fuga Libera a first Hindemith recording together with Belgian pianist Daan Vandewalle, which attracted wide interest: “A performance of technical perfection, great musicality and imperial sonority” (Diapason). Recommended as „excellent choice“ by Gramophone magazine, the recording has been nominated for the listener’s choice award of the Violoncello Foundation New York and reached the Classic Top Ten of Knack Focus in Belgium.
Born in Siegen, German cellist Judith Ermert has been honored by several foundations and grants. At age 26, she was appointed solo cellist at the Brussels Philharmonic, a year later she became professor at the Royal Conservatory of Gent, where she is heading a international cello class. This seasons concert highlights include Brahms Double Concerto together with violinist Ning Kam and the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra at Thailand Cultural Center .
Teaching frequently masterclasses throughout the world, she has been invited to hold a series of masterclasses at the Musikae International Academy Madrid during the spring semester 2020.
Judith Ermert commits herself to the initiative „Rhapsody in School“ of German pianist Lars Vogt and has joined the board of ESTA Belgium- Flanders as Vice-President for many years.
