Kristien Devolder volgde piano, viool en kamermuziek in Kortrijk en werd laureate van verschillende wedstrijden, zoals Jong Talent, de Bachwedstrijd, en Pro Civitate. Ze behaalde Eerste Prijzen voor viool bij Rudolf Werthen aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium in Gent, en piano bij Levente Kende in het Lemmensinstituut in Leuven.
Als violiste was ze 25 jaar actief in het Collegium Instrumentale Brugense, waarmee ze heel wat cd opnames maakte, en concerten speelde in binnen- en buitenland. De liefde voor pianobegeleiding ontstond al toen Kristien als kind haar medeleerlingen viool spontaan ging begeleiden in de vioolklas, en werd een echte roeping die resulteerde in een fulltime pianobegeleiding aan het Stedelijk Conservatorium van Brugge.
De liefde voor muziek geeft ze door aan haar 5 muzikale zonen, die ze ook vaak aan de piano begeleidt.
Kristien Devolder studied piano, violin and chamber music in Kortrijk and became a laureate of various competitions, such as Jong Talent, the Bach Competition, and Pro Civitate. She received First Prizes for violin with Rudolf Werthen at the Royal Conservatory in Ghent, and piano with Levente Kende at the Lemmens Institute in Leuven.
As a violinist she was active for 25 years in the Collegium Instrumentale Brugense, with which she made many CD recordings and played concerts at home and abroad.
The love for piano accompaniment started when Kristien spontaneously started accompanying her violin students in the violin class as a child, and it became a real vocation, which resulted in full-time piano accompaniment at the Municipal Conservatory of Bruges.
She passes on her love of music to her 5 musical sons, whom she often accompanies on the piano.
