Liesl Vanoverberghe ontdekte haar liefde voor de dwarsfluit op negenjarige leeftijd aan het Stedelijk Conservatorium Kortrijk onder leiding van Helga Jacobs. Haar passie voor de dwarsfluit bloeide op tijdens deze jaren. Liesl nam deel aan verschillende fluitseminaries en muziekstages waar ze de kunst van het fluitspel verder verfijnde door lessen te volgen bij vooraanstaande fluitisten uit België, Nederland, Duitsland, Denemarken, Polen, Slovenië en de Verenigde Staten.

In september 2016 trad Liesl toe tot de ‘Jong Talent’ richting aan het Conservatorium van Kortrijk. Ze is actief betrokken bij verschillende harmonie- en symfonieorkesten waaronder de Koninklijke Harmonie Vooruit en het Mahler Student Festival Orchestra. Als lid van het kamermuziekkwintet Meraki Wind Quintet deelt ze haar passie voor muziek op diverse podia.

In 2022 begon Liesl haar hogere studies aan het Conservatorium Maastricht in Nederland waar ze onder leiding van Valerie Debaele studeert. Parallel hiermee blijft ze haar kamermuziekvaardigheden verfijnen met regelmatige lessen aan LUCA School of Arts Campus Lemmens in België waar ze deel uitmaakt van het trio Flageolet Ensemble.

Liesl’s muzikale talent kreeg internationale erkenning door haar deelname aan en overwinningen bij verschillende wedstrijden. In 2021 sleepte ze prijzen in de wacht bij de ‘Pamus Flow Global Music Competition’, de ‘International Flute Seminar Bruges Flute Competition’, en de ‘International Moscow Music Competition’. In 2022 voegde ze daar nog meer titels aan toe, waaronder de eerste prijs bij de ‘Rotarywedstrijd’ te Kortrijk, de ‘London Classical Music Competition’, en de ‘Young Belgian Talent-wedstrijd’. In 2023 won ze de runner-up prijs op het ‘Grachtenfestival Conservatorium Concours’ in Nederland.

Als veelzijdige artiest streeft Liesl ernaar om niet alleen als solist of in duo’s op te treden, maar ook als kamermusicus. Ze is de fluitiste van het Flageolet Ensemble (fluit-cello-harp) en het Meraki Wind Quintet, twee gerenommeerde en bekroonde ensembles in België. Haar muzikale reizen nemen haar mee naar verschillende steden in Nederland en België waar ze romantische en moderne muziek ten gehore brengt.

Met een opwindende toekomst in het vooruitzicht blijft Liesl zichzelf uitdagen en inspireren, met als doel de harten van haar publiek te raken en hen mee te nemen op een magische reis door de wereld van muziek.

Liesl Vanoverberghe, born in Belgium, discovered her love for the flute at the age of nine at the Municipal Conservatory of Kortrijk under the guidance of Helga Jacobs. Her passion for the flute blossomed during these years, and Liesl took part in several flute seminars and music internships, refining the art of flute playing through lessons with leading flutists from Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Poland, Slovenia, and the United States. In September 2016, Liesl joined the ‘Young Talent’ program at the Kortrijk Conservatory, where her talent and passion for music were further developed. She actively participates in various wind and symphony orchestras, including the Koninklijke Harmonie Vooruit and the Mahler Student Festival Orchestra. As a member of the chamber music quintet Meraki Wind Quintet, she shares her passion for music on various stages.

In 2022, Liesl began her higher studies at the Maastricht Conservatory in the Netherlands, studying under the guidance of Valerie Debaele. Concurrently, she continues to refine her chamber music skills with regular lessons at LUCA School of Arts Campus Lemmens in Belgium, where she is part of the trio Flageolet Ensemble. Liesl’s musical talent has gained international recognition through her participation and victories in various competitions. In 2021, she won prizes at the Pamus Flow Global Music Competition, the International Flute Seminar Bruges Flute Competition, and the International Moscow Music Competition. In 2022, she added more titles, including first prize at the Rotary Competition in Kortrijk, the London Classical Music Competition, and the Young Belgian Talent competition. In 2023, she won the runner-up prize at the Grachtenfestival Conservatorium Competition in the Netherlands.

As a versatile artist, Liesl strives to perform not only as a soloist or in duos but also as a chamber musician. She is the flutist of the Flageolet Ensemble (flute-cello-harp) and the Meraki Wind Quintet, two renowned and award-winning ensembles in Belgium. Her musical travels take her to various cities in the Netherlands and Belgium, where she performs romantic and modern music. With an exciting future ahead, Liesl continues to challenge and inspire herself, aiming to touch the hearts of her audiences and take them on a magical journey through the world of music.
