De Belgische pianiste Marie François trad op in België, Nederland, Frankrijk, Griekenland, Duitsland, Litouwen, Polen, Luxemburg, Italië, Oekraïne, Roemenië, het Verenigd Koninkrijk en de VS. Hoogtepunten zijn een concert in het Concertgebouw Amsterdam, het Roemeens Atheneum, de Koningin Elisabethzaal Antwerpen, het B-Classic Festival België, het Pianofestival Miami, het Schiermonnikoog Festival Nederland en het Aurora Music Festival Zweden. Ze trad op met Dirk Brossé in De Bijloke en speelde als enige Belgische pianist op Piano Days 2024 in Flagey.
Haar debuut-cd, Eclectic/Being me, werd in april 2019 uitgebracht door Challenge Records International. Twee weken later werd de cd gekozen tot een van de tien beste klassieke muziekalbums die wereldwijd op Apple Music zijn uitgebracht. Ze bracht in 2021 een nieuwe EP uit, Memories of Tomorrow.
Tijdens de piano-editie van de Koningin Elisabethwedstrijd in 2016 was ze lid van De Zes/Les Six, de jury voor jonge pianisten voor Canvas en Klara. Ze schrijft opiniestukken, wordt uitgenodigd voor televisiepanels en had vier maanden lang haar eigen tv-programma op Eclips TV. Tijdens de Covid-crisis organiseerde ze The Corona Cure, een concerttournee en online talkshow waarin ze met een groot aantal gasten de toekomst van klassieke muziek besprak. Ook startte ze haar eigen podcast, Musings with Marie.
François begon op vierjarige leeftijd met pianospelen. Ze behaalde haar bachelordiploma bij Joop Celis aan het Conservatorium van Maastricht, haar masterdiploma in België bij Alan Weiss en haar postgraduaat bij Polina Leschenko. Ze perfectioneerde haar spel aan de Scuola di Musica di Fiesole in Italië bij Elisso Virsaladze.
François volgde masterclasses bij Elisabeth Leonskaja, Jan Wijn, Pavel Gililov, Alexander Melnikov, Yoheved Kaplinsky, Anton Nell, Alexander Moutouzkine en Peter Donohoe. Ze nam vier jaar deel aan de Accademia Chigiana in Siena met Lilya Zilberstein.
‘Who doesn’t love Chopin’s Nocturnes’ is een gloednieuw concertprogramma geïnspireerd door François’ jarenlange bewondering voor de Poolse componist. In 2023 bracht ze een maand door in Warschau waar ze alle nocturnes van Chopin bestudeerde. Ze bracht over die ervaring verslag uit in een dagelijkse podcastserie. De complete Nocturnes werden opgenomen in de zomer van 2024.

Highlights are a concert at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Romanian Athenaeum, The Queen Elisabeth Hall Antwerp, the B-Classic Festival Belgium, the Piano Festival Miami, the Schiermonnikoog Festival The Netherlands and Aurora Music Festival Sweden. She performed with Dirk Brossé at The Bijloke and played (only Belgian pianist) on Piano Days 2024 in Flagey.

During the 2016 piano edition of the Queen Elisabeth Competition, she was a member of De Zes/Les Six, the young pianist’s jury for Canvas and Klara. She writes opinion pieces ,is invited to join television panels and had her own tv program for four months on Eclips TV. During the Covid crisis, she organized The Corona Cure, a concert tour and online talkshow where she discussed the future of classical music with a multitude of guests. She also started her own podcast: Musings with Marie .
François started to play the piano at the age of four. She finished her Bachelor degree with Joop Celis at the Conservatory of Maastricht, her masters degree in Belgium with Alan Weiss and her postgraduate with Polina Leschenko. She perfected her playing at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole in Italy with Elisso Virsaladze.
François took part in masterclasses from E. Leonskaja, Jan Wijn, Pavel Gililov, A. Melnikov, Yoheved Kaplinsky, Anton Nell, Alexander Moutouzkine, Peter Donohoe…She took part in the Accademia Chigiana in Siena for four years with Lilya Zilberstein.
“Who doesn’t love Chopin’s Nocturnes” is a brand-new concert program inspired by François’ years of admiration for the Polish composer. In 2023 she spent one month in Warsaw, studying all the nocturnes of Chopin. She reported her process in a daily podcast series. The complete Nocturnes were recorded during the summer of 2024.
