Monica Florescu werd geboren in Boekarest en debuteerde op 8-jarige leeftijd op het podium. Ze studeerde af aan twee muziekuniversiteiten (Universiteit voor Muziek uit Boekarest en het Koninklijk Conservatorium Antwerpen) en leefde en werkte in verschillende landen.
In 2002 richtte Monica, samen met cellist Makcim Fernandez Samodaiev “Spirale Piano Trio ” op, een kamermuziekgroep die concerten gaf in België, Frankrijk, Nederland, Duitsland, Roemenië, Mexico, Spanje, Zweden, Zwitserland en Engeland. Samen richtten ze een reeks kamermuziekconcerten op, Hyparxis Concerts in Aalst, gedurende 6 opeenvolgende jaren. En in 2015 startten ze “Florescu-Fernandez and Friends” in Sibiu, Roemenië.
Monica is de winnaar van enkele internationale wedstrijden, waaronder de internationale wedstrijd “Lorry Wallfish” en de “George Enescu Award”, evenals de “Remember Enescu” Award binnen de “Mihail Jora” -wedstrijd. Ze was finalist van de “Maria Canals 55e Internationale Competitie” in Barcelona en van 2012 tot 2014 was ze uitgenodigd in Mexico als lid van de internationale jury’s voor pianoconcoursen en kamermuziek.
Monica maakte opnames voor de Romanian Broadcast Radio (Boekarest), trad live op voor TVT Tabasco Television Villahermosa (Mexico) en nam een cd op bij Aliud Records, Skarster Music Investments Netherlands. Ze nam deel aan vele internationale festivals zoals Steinway Festival in Gent, Festival de Wallonie en Festival van Vlaanderen, Festival Aurora, Vänersborg, Zweden, Festival International de Musique Universitaire Belfort en Fontainebleau Festival, Frankrijk.
Tussen 2012 en 2014 was Monica hoofddocent piano aan het Institute of Music in Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico en werkte ze als solist samen met het Xalapa Symphony Orchestra, Veracruz, waar ze vele soloconcerten en kamermuziekconcerten gaf op verschillende festivals in Mexico en “XXI Festival van hedendaagse muziek in Havana” Cuba.
Sinds 2015 is Monica lid van de Sibiu State Philharmonic in Roemenië. Sindsdien had ze veel projecten in Roemenië, waaronder originele projecten en creaties in samenwerking met het Sibiu Ballet Theater. Ze voerde andere interdisciplinaire projecten uit met TNRS (Nationaal Theater Radu Stanca), toerde door China voor het Wuzhen Festival en trad op in “En attendant Godot” geregisseerd door Silviu Purcarete.
Monica Florescu was born in Bucharest and made her debut at the age of 8 on the stage. She graduated two Music Universities (University of Music from Bucharest and Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, Belgium) and has lived and sustained an intense musical activity over the years in several countries.
Monica founded in 2002, together with the cellist Makcim Fernandez Samodaiev, “Spirale Piano Trio ”, a chamber music group, which carries out an intense international activity with concerts in many countries. Together they also founded a series of chamber music concerts, Hyparxis Concerts in the city of Aalst for 6 consecutive years. And in 2015 they initiated the Chamber Season “Florescu-Fernandez and Friends” in Sibiu, Romania.
Monica is the winner of some international competitions, among which the International Contest “Lorry Wallfish” and the “George Enescu Award”, as well as the “Remember Enescu” Award within the “Mihail Jora” contest. She was a finalist of the “Maria Canals 55th International Competition” in Barcelona. Between the years 2012-2014 she was invited to Mexico as a member of the international juries for piano competitions and chamber music.
Monica made recordings for Romanian Broadcast Radio (Bucharest), she performed live for TVT Tabasco Television Villahermosa (Mexico) and recorded a CD at Aliud Records, Skarster Music Investments Netherlands. She participated in many international festivals such as Steinway Festival in Ghent, Festival de Wallonie and Festival van Vlaanderen, Festival Aurora, Vänersborg, Sweden, Festival International de Musique Universitaire Belfort and Fontainebleau Festival, France.
Between 2012-2014 she was a principal teacher for piano class at the Institute of Music in Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico and collaborated as a soloist with the Xalapa Symphony Orchestra, Veracruz giving many solo concerts and chamber music at various festivals in Mexico and the “XXI Festival of Contemporary Music in Havana” Cuba.
Since 2015 she has been a member of the Sibiu State Philharmonic, in Romania. Since then she carries out an intense activity in Romania, giving birth to original projects and creations in collaborations with the Sibiu Ballet Theater. She carries out other interdisciplinary projects with TNRS (National Theatre Radu Stanca) touring in China for Wuzhen Festival and performing in “En attendant Godot” directed by Silviu Purcarete as well as other projects with actors of the National Theater Radu Stanca, Sibiu.
