Natalia Margulis werd geboren in een familie van Russische muzikanten in Freiburg, Duitsland. Op vijfjarige leeftijd kreeg ze haar eerste pianolessen bij haar moeder en op dertienjarige leeftijd begon ze met cellolessen. Ze studeerde in 1992 in Sint-Petersburg, Rusland en later in Bazel en in Californië, VS. In 1996 studeerde ze in de klas van Professor Frans Helmerson aan de Hochschule fur Musik in Keulen, waar ze in 2002 haar diploma behaalde met onderscheiding. Ze vervolgde haar postgraduaat bij professor Natalia Shakhovskaya aan de Escuela Superior Reina Sofia in Madrid.
Natalia trad op als actieve soliste en kamermusicus in Europa, de VS en Azië. Ze speelde concerten in het Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, de Megaron Hall in Thessaloniki, Griekenland, het Walton Arts Center in Arkansas, VS, de Schoenberg Hall in Los Angeles, het Palais des Beaux-Arts in België, de kamermuziekzaal van de Sint-Petersburg Philharmonie en vele andere. Ze trad op als soliste bij het Greek National Orchestra, het North Arkansas Symphony Orchestra en het Cologne Youth Orchestra. Daarnaast toerde ze met de Zweedse Camerata Nordica en haar optreden van het Beethoven Triple Concerto met het Margulis Trio werd uitgezonden op televisie en radio in de VS. Regelmatig neemt ze op voor de Spaanse radio.
Natalia trad op met artiesten als Martha Argerich, Ivry Gitlis, Gabriela Montero, Dora Schwarzberg en Misha Maisky en ze speelde ook in masterclasses voor gerenommeerde cellisten zoals David Geringas, Boris Pergamentschikov en Natalia Gutman. Ze heeft deelgenomen aan internationale muziekfestivals zoals het Santander Festival en de Verbier Academie, het Eilat Chamber Music Festival, Schloss Elmau Concerts, het SoNoRo-festival in Boekarest, het International Conservatory Week Festival in Sint-Petersburg, en het Progetto Argerich in Lugano, waar ze ook deel uitmaakte van de cd-opname ‘Argerich and friends’ met het Margulis Trio.
Natalia werd uitgenodigd om Masterclasses te geven op het International Music Seminar in Vertiscos, Griekenland en Encore Music Projects in Wells, Engeland. Sinds 2007 bekleedt ze de functie Assistent Solo Cello in het Teatro Real in Madrid.
Natalia Margulis was born into a family of Russian musicians in Freiburg, Germany. At the age of five she had her first piano lessons with her mother and at the age of thirteen she began cello lessons. In 1992, she studied in Sint-Petersburg, Russia and later in Basel and in California, USA. In 1996, she entered the class of Professor Frans Helmerson at the Hochschule fur Musik in Cologne, Germany, where she earned her diploma with distinction in 2002. She continued her post graduate with Professor Natalia Shakhovskaya at the Escuela Superior Reina Sofia in Madrid.
As an active soloist and chamber musician, Natalia has performed throughout Europe, the USA, and Asia. She has played concerts at the Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, the Megaron Hall in Thessaloniki, Greece, the Walton Arts Center in Arkansas, USA, the Schoenberg Hall in Los Angeles, the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Belgium, the chamber music hall of the Sint Petersburg Philharmonie and many others. She has appeared as a soloist with the Greek National Orchestra, the North Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, and the Cologne Youth Orchestra. She has toured and recorded with the Swedish Camerata Nordica and her performance of the Beethoven Triple Concerto with the Margulis Trio was broadcasted on television and radio in the USA. She frequently records for the Spanish Radio.

Natalia was invited to teach Masterclasses at the International Music Seminar in Vertiscos, Greece and Encore Music Projects in Wells, England. Since 2007 she holds the Assistant Solo Cello position at the Teatro Real in Madrid.
