Contrabassist Nicholas Schwartz begon zijn opleiding in zijn geboortestad Boston, waar hij aan de muziekafdeling van de universiteit studeerde. Tot zijn leraren behoren Edwin Barker en Matthew McDonald. Hij verving regelmatig bij het Boston Symphony Orchestra en het Boston Pops Orchestra. In het seizoen 2012/13 was hij deelnemer aan de Herbert von Karajan Akademie van de Berliner Philharmoniker.
Hij won diverse prijzen, waaronder de eerste prijs van de International Society of Bassists en de Stulberg International String Competition.
Sinds augustus 2013 is Nicholas Schwartz in dienst van het Concertgebouworkest. Daarnaast speelt hij al jaren in het Verbier Festival Orchestra en Chamber Orchestra. Met pianist Anna Fedorova vormt hij het Oyster Duo.
Nicky Schwartz speelt op een contrabas gelabeld “Francesco Gofriller (ca. 1732)”, die hij van Foundation Concertgebouworkest in bruikleen heeft gekregen.
Double bassist Nicholas Schwartz began his training in his native Boston, where he studied at the university’s music department. His teachers include Edwin Barker and Matthew McDonald. He regularly substituted for the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Pops Orchestra. In the 2012/13 season he was a participant in the Herbert von Karajan Akademie of the Berlin Philharmonic.

Nicholas Schwartz has been employed by the Concertgebouw Orchestra since August 2013. He has also played in the Verbier Festival Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra for many years. He forms the Oyster Duo with pianist Anna Fedorova.
