De 22-jarige Belgische harpiste Olivia Debrabandere begon met muziek- en vioolinitiatie toen ze zes jaar was aan de muziekacademie STAP in Roeselare. Toen ze tien was, koos ze voor de harp. Olivia volgde meerdere masterclasses met harpisten als Jana Bouskova, Isabelle Moretti en Sylvain Blassel. Ze gaf inmiddels al concerten als soliste met het Gent Symphony Orchestra en de Harmonie Sint-Cecilia Rumbeke. Daarnaast speelde ze onder andere in het Youth Orchestra Flanders, Continuo Orkest, Gents Universitair Orkest en de Koninklijke Stadsfanfare Izegem.
Ze werd als jong talent geselecteerd voor het ‘Kamermuziekfestival Arte Amanti’, won in 2019 de prijs voor solisten in het ‘Harpe Diem concours’ en in 2022 de prijs voor beste uitvoering van de nieuwe compositie ‘Magellan’ van Vincent Ghadimi op het ‘Internationale Harpconcours Felix Godefroid’.
Na drie jaar aan het Lemmensinstituut in Leuven zet Olivia haar studies verder in Duitsland aan de Hochschule für Musik und Theater München met professor Christina Bianchi.
The 22-year-old Belgian harpist Olivia Debrabandere started music and violin initiation when she was six years old at the music academy STAP in Roeselare. When she was ten, she chose the harp. Olivia took several masterclasses with harpists such as Jana Bouskova, Isabelle Moretti and Sylvain Blassel. She has already given concerts as a soloist with the Gent Symphony Orchestra and the Harmonie Sint-Cecilia Rumbeke. She also played in the Youth Orchestra Flanders, Continuo Orkest, Ghent University Orchestra and the Koninklijke Stadsfanfare Izegem, among others.
She was selected as a young talent for the ‘Chamber music festival Arte Amanti’, won the prize for soloists in the ‘Harpe Diem competition’ in 2019 and in 2022 the prize for best performance of the new composition ‘Magellan’ by Vincent Ghadimi at the ‘Internationale Harp Competition Felix Godefroid’.
After three years at the Lemmens Institute in Leuven, Olivia continues her studies in Germany at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München with Professor Christina Bianchi.
