Sinds zijn debuut met orkest op negenjarige leeftijd, met het pianoconcerto Kv.467 van W.A. MOZART, was de Belgische pianist van Bulgaarse afkomst Philippe Ivanov (°1988) reeds solist van het Vlaams Radio Orkest, de Koninklijke Filharmonie van Antwerpen, het kamerorkest “Sofia Soloists”, het Bulgaars “New Symphony Orchestra” en het Orkest van de Bulgaarse Nationale Radio.
Philippe Ivanov nam deel aan verscheidene festivals in Europa, de Verenigde Staten en Canada. Om er enkele te noemen: Dimanche au Mont des Arts in het Paleis voor Schone Kunsten van Brussel, MIDEM 2004 in Cannes, VIII Festival de Música Clàssica Castell Santa Florentina in Barcelona, Orford Music Festival in Montréal en het Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival.
Hij was ook te horen tijdens de “Musical Treasures from Bulgaria” in de “Weill Recital Hall/Carnegie Hall” in New York.
Sinds meerdere jaren vormt hij samen met zijn broer, violist Yossif Ivanov, een duo dat wereldwijd optreedt onder andere in Europa (Wigmore Hall in 2017), Azië (National Theater & Concert Hall in Taipei, Yokohama Minato Mirai Hall in 2018) en Zuid-Amerika (Sala de Conciertos de la Biblioteca Luis Ángel Arango in Bogota in 2017).
Philippe Ivanov werd laureaat van de Nationale Muziekwedstrijd “Tenuto” te Brussel (2002) en vertegenwoordigde België tijdens de “12th EBU Eurovision for Young Musicians 2004” in Luzern (Zwitserland).
In 2010 behaalde hij de 2e prijs (1e prijs niet toegekend) op de Internationale Muziekwedstrijd “Premio Silvio Bengalli” in het Italiaanse Pianello Val tidone. Datzelfde jaar werd hem de “Chopinpreis” toegekend tijdens de Internationale Chopin wedstrijd van de Internationale Zomerakademie van het Mozarteum in Salzburg. Tijdens de academie werd hem ook de prijs voor beste solist toegekend en soleerde hij op het “Preisträgerkonzert” in het kader van de “Salzburger Festspiele”. Eveneens in 2010 werd hij laureaat van de wedstrijd “Stichting Nany Philippart” te Brussel. In 2013 behaalde hij de 3e prijs tijdens de 17th Hamamatsu International Piano Academy Competition in Japan.
Philippe Ivanov behaalde het Masterdiploma met grote onderscheiding aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium van Brussel als student van Daniel Blumenthal en tevens het Postgraduaatdiploma aan het Mozarteum van Salzburg onder leiding van Professor Pavel Gililov.
Sinds 2015 is hij als docent pianobegeleiding verbonden aan het Institut Supérieur de Musique et de Pédagogie in Namen.
Since making his debut with orchestra at the age of nine, performing Mozart’s Piano Concerto Kv.467, Belgian pianist of Bulgarian origin Philippe Ivanov (°1988) has been a soloist of the Royal Flemish Philharmonic, the Brussels Philharmonic, the Sofia Soloists Chamber Orchestra, the Bulgarian “New Symphony” Orchestra and the Bulgarian National Radio Symphony Orchestra.
He has appeared at various venues and festivals around Europe, the United States and Canada including Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels, MIDEM 2004 in Cannes, “Festival de Música Clàssica Castell Santa Florentina” in Barcelona, Orford Festival in Montréal, the Ottawa Chamber Music Festival and was also featured at the “Musical treasures of Bulgaria” at New York’s Weill Recital Hall – Carnegie Hall in 2009.
With his brother, violinist Yossif Ivanov, he forms a duo that occurs worldwide, most recently in Europe (London Wigmore Hall in 2017), Asia (Taipei National Theater & Concert Hall, Yokohama Minato Mirai Hall in 2018) and South America (Sala de Conciertos de la Biblioteca Luis Ángel Arango, Bogota, in 2017).
Philippe Ivanov was the winner of the 2002 Belgian Radio-Television Competition “Tenuto” in Brussels which gave him the opportunity to represent Belgium at the 2004 “EBU Eurovision Young Musicians” in Lucern.
In June 2010 he was announced winner of the “Premio Silvio Bengalli” International Piano Competition in Pianello Val Tidone (Italy). He was also awarded the “Chopin Prize” during the International Chopin Competition of the 2010 Summer Academy Mozarteum Salzburg. At the Academy he received the Prize for “Best Soloist” and was featured at the Preisträgerkonzert during the Salzburger Festspiele. In March 2013 he won 3rd Prize at the 17th Hamamatsu International Piano Academy Competition in Japan. He was a Semifinalist of the 59th International Piano Competition “Premio Ferruccio Busoni” in Bolzano.
He has graduated with High Honors from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels as a student of Daniel Blumenthal and pursued postgraduate studies at the “Mozarteum” University in Salzburg (Austria) as a student of Pavel Gililov.
Since 2015 he serves as a collaborative pianist of the violin department at the “Institut supérieur de Musique et de Pédagogie” in Namur, Belgium.
