    Razvan Popovici werd geboren in Boekarest in een familie van muzikanten en begon altviool te studeren bij zijn vader, Mugur Popovici. Als solist en kamermusicus trad hij op in het Théatre-dés-Champs-Elysées in Parijs, de Philharmonie van Keulen, het Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, de Suntory Hall in Tokio, het Konzerthaus en Musikverein in Wenen en in de Carnegie Hall in New York.

    Als kamermusicus concerteerde hij met Shlomo Mintz, Konstantin Lifschitz, Louis Lortie, Radovan Vlatkovic, Daishin Kashimoto, Giovanni Sollima en Gilles Apap op het ‘Lucerne Festival’, ‘Wiener Festwochen’, ‘Jerusalem Chamber Music Festival’, ‘Enescu Festival’, ‘Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival’, ‘Stavanger Festival of Spoleto Festival’, maar ook in gerenommeerde concertzalen zoals Wigmore Hall in Londen, YMCA in Jeruzalem, Bozar in Brussel of Concertgebouw Amsterdam.

    Razvan trad op als extra speler bij de Berliner Philharmoniker en was gastsolist in vele Europese orkesten, zoals de Essen Philharmonics, de kamerorkesten van München, Köln en Kobe en het Gstaad Festival Orchestra.

    Hij is lid van het Ensemble Raro waarmee hij regelmatig de wereld rond toert. Razvan is uitvoerend directeur van het ‘Chiemgauer Musikfrühling Festival’ in Duitsland en ‘SoNoRo Festival’ in Boekarest, Roemenië.


    Razvan Popovici was born in Bucharest into a family of musicians and started studying viola with his father, Mugur Popovici. As a soloist and chamber musician he has appeared in the Théatre-dés-Champs-Elysées in Paris, the Cologne Philharmony, the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, the Suntory Hall in Tokio, the Konzerthaus and Musikverein in Vienna and at the Carnegie Hall in New York.

    As a chamber musician he has since performed with Shlomo Mintz, Konstantin Lifschitz, Louis Lortie, Radovan Vlatkovic, Daishin Kashimoto, Giovanni Sollima and Gilles Apap at the Lucerne Festival, Wiener Festwochen, Jerusalem Chamber Music Festival, Enescu Festival, Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival, Stavanger Festival or Spoleto Festival as well as in renowned concert halls such as Wigmore Hall in London, YMCA in Jerusalem, Bozar in Bruxelles or Concertgebouw Amsterdam.

    Razvan performed as an extra player with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and has been guest principal violist in many European orchestras, such as the Essen Philharmonics, the München, Köln and Kobe Chamber Orchestras and the Gstaad Festival Orchestra.

    He is a member of the Ensemble Raro with which he regularly tours the world. Razvan is executive director of the Chiemgauer Musikfrühling Festival in Germany and SoNoRo Festival in Bucharest, Romania.
