Ruben Vanderpijpen is geboren in 2007 en begon met pianolessen op vierjarige leeftijd aan de Academie voor Podiumkunsten in Aalst, eerst bij Elena Ivanova en tot op heden bij Catharina Leijnse. Hij volgt er ook lessen begeleidingspraktijk, samenspel en muziektheorie.
Ruben neemt jaarlijks deel aan de pianostage in Leuven waar hij les kreeg van onder anderen Jan Vermeulen, Julien Libeer, Nicolas Callot, Sylvia Thereza en Liebrecht Vanbeckevoort. Hij volgde ook masterclasses bij Philippe Raskin, Leonel Morales en Boyan Vodenitcharov.
Ruben nam succesvol deel aan verschillende pianowedstrijden. In maart 2019 werd hij tweede laureaat van ‘Concours de Musique Breughel’ voor piano te Brussel. In 2020 werd hij laureaat van de Cantabilewedstrijd en in 2021 was hij finalist van de EPTA pianowedstrijd. In 2022 was Ruben opnieuw laureaat van de Cantabilewedstrijd en derde finalist van de Steinway pianowedstrijd. Dankzij deze finales kreeg hij de kans om op meerdere concerten te spelen waaronder ook in Flagey en Bozar te Brussel.
Sinds 2020 is hij al enkele keren uitgenodigd als ‘jong talent’ op het Arte Amanti Kamermuziekfestival, solo of in ensemble met zijn zussen.
Ruben volgt het zesde middelbaar Grieks-wiskunde aan het Sint-Jozefscollege te Aalst.
Ruben Vanderpijpen was born in 2007 and began piano lessons at the age of 4 at the Academy of Performing Arts in Aalst. Initially, he studied with Elena Ivanova, and currently, he continues his lessons with Catharina Leijnse. Additionally, he receives instruction in accompaniment practice, ensemble playing, and music theory.
Ruben actively participates in the annual piano internship in Leuven, where he receives guidance from instructors such as Jan Vermeulen, Julien Libeer, Nicolas Callot, Sylvia Thereza, and Liebrecht Vanbeckevoort. He has also taken master classes with Philippe Raskin, Leonel Morales, and Boyan Vodenitcharov.
Ruben has successfully competed in various piano competitions. In March 2019, he became the 2nd laureate of the ‘Concours de Musique Breughel’ for piano in Brussels. In 2020, he became a laureate of the Cantabile Competition, and in 2021, he was a finalist of the EPTA piano competition. In 2022, Ruben again achieved laureate status in the Cantabile Competition and became the 3rd finalist in the Steinway piano competition. These accomplishments provided him with opportunities to perform at various concerts, including venues like Flagey and Bozar in Brussels.
Since 2020, Ruben has been invited multiple times as a ‘young talent’ at the Arte Amanti chamber music festival, where he performs solo or collaborates with his sisters in ensemble performances.
In addition to his musical pursuits, Ruben is in the sixth grade, studying Greek mathematics at Sint-Jozefscollege in Aalst.
