Saar Van Bergen (°2001) speelt altviool sinds haar vierde. Gevoed door haar passie en begeleid door haar leraar Wim De Cock studeerde ze als laureaat af aan de Lierse Academie. Tegelijkertijd vervolgde Saar haar muzikale reis aan het Lemmensinstituut onder het mentorschap van Marc Tooten. Tot op de dag van vandaag blijft Tooten haar uitdagen en inspireren aan de Luca School of Arts, campus Lemmens. In 2022 studeerde ze met de hoogste onderscheiding af voor haar bachelor altviool en ze verfijnt momenteel haar muzikale vaardigheden in een masteropleiding.
Saar nam actief deel aan verschillende professionele muziekproducties en werkte samen met gerenommeerde orkesten en ensembles als Ataneres Ensemble, HERMESensemble, Opera Ballet Vlaanderen en Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen. Sinds 2020 is ze lid en sectieleider van Jeugdorkest Vlaanderen en tevens verbonden aan het Nationaal Jeugdorkest van Nederland. Via de Orkestacademie speelde ze in 2021 bij het Symfonieorkest van de Munt en het Nationaal Orkest van België. Sinds 2023 leidt Saar de altviolen in het Mahler Students Festival Orchestra.
Binnen het LUCA Philharmonic, LUCA Chamberorchestra en LUCA Strings heeft Saar rollen op zich genomen als altvioolsolist en soloaltviool. Onder leiding van dirigent Michel Tilkin trad ze in september 2023 samen met An-Sofie Perneel op als solist in Mozarts Sinfonia Concertante. In april en mei speelt ze samen met Yassine Posman als solist bij GUSO in Zweden en België.
Na het bijwonen van een masterclass voor altviool en kamermuziek in Tata, Hongarije, ontving ze een uitnodiging om deel te nemen aan het OCRUM muziekfestival georganiseerd door celliste Monique Heidema. Ze stond in de schijnwerpers met het zesde Brandenburgs Concerto, waarin ze haar altvioolvaardigheden demonstreerde.
Saar is actief in de kamermuziek, ze nam deel aan diverse concerten met de aanvoerders van het Mahler Studenten Festival Orkest, het openingsconcert van Veel beLEUVEND, trad op met het Núna Ensemble en was medeoprichter van het Tínel Ensemble. Samen met haar twee mentoren maakt ze deel uit van het altvioolkwartet Quadralti. Saar scherpt haar vaardigheden aan door coachingsessies en masterclasses met gerenommeerde muzikanten, waaronder Michael Kugel, Mikhail Zemtsov, Béatrice Derolez, Huub Beckers, Quatuor van Kuijk, Kyrill Terentiev, Monique Heidema, Mihai Cocea en anderen.
Sinds 2024 is Saar lid van de Luxembourg Philharmonic Academy, waar zij deelneemt aan producties en intensieve coachingsessies. Naast haar optredens deelt ze haar liefde voor de altviool door groepslessen te geven in Atelier, de altvioolschool waar ze opgroeide
Saar Van Bergen (°2001) has been playing the viola since the age of four. Fueled by her passion and guided by her teacher Wim De Cock, she graduated as a laureate from the Lier Stage Academy. Simultaneously, Saar continued her musical journey at the Lemmens Institute under the mentorship of Marc Tooten. To this day, Tooten continues to challenge and inspire her at the Luca School of Arts, Lemmens campus. In 2022, she graduated with the highest distinction for her Bachelor’s degree in Viola and is currently refining her musical skills in a Master’s program.
Saar actively participated in various professional music productions, collaborating with esteemed orchestras and ensembles such as Ataneres Ensemble, HERMESensemble, Opera Ballet Vlaanderen and Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen. Since 2020, she has been a member and section leader of Youth Orchestra Flanders and is also associated with the National Youth Orchestra of the Netherlands. Through the Orchestra Academy, she played with the Symphony Orchestra of La Monnaie and the National Orchestra of Belgium in 2021. Saar leads the violas in the Mahler Students Festival Orchestra since 2023.
Within the LUCA Philharmonic, LUCA Chamberorchestra and LUCA Strings, Saar has taken on roles as a viola soloist and principal viola. Under the direction of conductor Michel Tilkin, she performed alongside An-Sofie Perneel in September 2023 as a soloist in Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante. This April and May, she will play as a soloist together with Yassine Posman with GUSO in Sweden and Belgium.
After attending a viola and chamber music masterclass in Tata, Hungary, she received an invitation to,participate in the OCRUM music festival organized by cellist Monique Heidema. She took the spotlight with the sixth Brandenburg Concerto, showcasing her viola skills.
Saar is active in chamber music, she participated in several concerts with the principals of the Mahler Student Festival Orchestra, the openings concert of Veel beLEUVEND, performed with Núna Ensemble, and co-founded the Tínel Ensemble. She’s a member of the viola quartet Quadralti, alongside her two mentors. Saar hones her skills through coaching sessions and masterclasses with renowned musicians, including Michael Kugel, Mikhail Zemtsov, Béatrice Derolez, Huub Beckers, Quatuor van Kuijk, Kyrill Terentiev, Monique Heidema, Mihai Cocea and others.
Since 2024, Saar has been a member of the Luxembourg Philharmonic Academy, participating in productions and intensive coaching sessions. Beyond her performances, she shares her love for the viola by teaching group lessons at Atelier, the viola sechool where she grew up.
