Stéphane De May is een genereuze pianist die zijn passie graag deelt. Hij kenmerkt zich door zijn delicate en gevoelige spel. Na het behalen van zijn diploma van uitvoerend musicus aan de Ecole Normale in Parijs en Rotterdam haalde hij zijn diploma voor kamermuziek aan het conservatorium van Bergen. Dit allemaal met felicitaties van de jury onder leiding van grootmeesters als A. Delle-Vigne, A. Rahman El Bacha, T. Evdokimova, G. van Waas.
Hij is laureaat van verschillende grote competities in Italie, Spanje, Oostenrijk, Griekenland, Verenigde Staten en Nederland en wordt op de grootste festivals uitgenodigd.
Sinds 2014 is Stéphane De May directeur klassieke muziek van het koninklijk conservatorium in Luik. Daarnaast is hij docent aan het Conservatorium van Leuven en gast docent aan het conservatorium van Sion in Zwitserland.
Stéphane De May is ook artistiek directeur van het FestiVal d’Anniviers in Zwitserland.
Hij heeft een indrukwekkende discografie en ontvangt hiervoor veel lof van de nationale en internationale pers. Zijn opnames van de complete nocturnes evenals de twee pianoconcerten van Chopin onder leiding van Jean-Bernard Pommier worden door de Amerikaanse pers als referentie opnames beschouwd.
De May voerde meer dan twintig verschillende pianoconcerten uit, van Bach tot Poulenc.
Met zijn Trio Portici (Luc Tooten, cello en Damien Pardoen, viool) werd hij uitgenodigd om te concerteren tijdens de officiële reis van de koning en koningin van Belgie in het koninklijk paleis van Litouwen.
Sinds 2007 is het Trio Portici ‘artist in residence’ aan de Katholieke Universiteit van Leuven en werd officieel ambassadeur.
Voor zijn volgende concerten zal De May met onder andere Trio Portici, Pierre-Henri Xuereb, Regis Pasquier, Sabine Conzen werken.

Winner of numerous intentional competitions (Italy, Spain, Austria, Greece, United States, The Netherlands, …) his name is affiliated with the biggest festivals.
Since 2014, Stéphane De May is the Director of the classical department of the Royal Conservatory of Liège. He is also a piano professor at the Leuven Conservatory and is a regular guest professor of the HEMU of Sion in Switzerland.
Stéphane De May is also the Artistic Director of the FestiVal d’Anniviers in Switzerland. His impressive discography travels through all the repertoire and is greatly received by the national and international press (Mendelssohn, Onslow, Debussy, Schubert, Rachmaninov, Chopin, Schumann, …)
His recordings of the complete “Nocturnes” as well as two piano concertos of Chopin under the direction of Jean-Bernard Pommier are considered to be reference recordings by the American press. His repertoire includes more than twenty concertos from Bach to Poulenc.
As a chamber musician, he had the great honor of being invited with Trio Portici (Luc Tooten, cellist and Damien Pardoen, violinist) on the journey of the King and Queen of Belgium in Lithuania, as well as the Autumn concert at the Royal Palace in 2006.
Since 2007, Trio Portici has been in residence at the Catholic University of Leuven (KUL) and also became ambassador.
