Taha Posman is geboren in Gent, in het muzikaal tumult van de Rode Pomp, als tweelingbroer van Yassine Posman. Hij is 19 jaar jong, en zit in zijn derde jaar piano en harmonie aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel. Zijn eerste lessen piano kreeg hij van Timur Sergeyenia, om dan in de klas van Elisa Medinilla terecht te komen, in de muziekschool De Poel. Die opleiding studeerde hij af met als eindexamen een uitvoering van het Tweede Pianoconcerto van Dmitri Shostakovitch, met het symfonisch orkest Sonores, o.l.v. Joeri van Hove.
Via Elisa Medinilla kwam hij in contact met de Nadar Summer Academy, een zomercursus hedendaagse muziek die zijn interesse in het hedendaagse repertoire grotendeels heeft aangewakkerd, en ook een plaats was waar een aantal werken van hem zijn uitgevoerd, onder pedagogische begeleiding van Daan Janssens. Deze zomercursus heeft er ook voor gezorgd dat hij naast piano een opleiding compositie zal volgen aan het conservatorium. Een andere grote invloed was Marc Maes, zijn leraar begeleidingspraktijk op de muziekschool, wiens zesjarige opleiding geresulteerd heeft in een hedendaagse kameropera genaamd “Botrytis”, uitgevoerd op de Nadar Summer Academy, en in een enorm brede muzikale horizon.
Naast piano en compositie heeft hij al elf jaar ervaring met koorzang, in het kinder- en jeugdkoor van de Poel o.l.v. Johannes Dewilde, waarvan hij al zes jaar beide koren op de piano begeleidt. Drie jaar geleden begon hij ook met een opleiding koordirectie bij Johannes Dewilde, waarvoor hij in september eindexamen zal afleggen. Daarna zal hij zijn studies koordirectie verderzetten in een specialisatierichting op de Poel.
Taha Posman was born in Ghent, in the musical tumult of the Rode Pomp, as twin brother of Yassine Posman. He is 19 years young, and is in his third year piano and harmony at the Royal Brussels Conservatory. He received his first piano lessons from Timur Sergeyenia, and then in the classroom of Elisa Medinilla, in the music school De Poel. He graduated that training with as a final exam a performance of the Second Piano Concerto by Dmitri Shostakovitch, with the symphonic orchestra Sonores, conducted by Joeri van Hove.
Through Elisa Medinilla he came into contact with the Nadar Summer Academy, a summer course contemporary music that largely has his interest in the contemporary repertoire fueled, and was also a place where some of his works were performed, under pedagogical guidance from Daan Janssens. This summer course has also ensured that he in addition to piano, will follow a composition course at the conservatory. Another big influence was Marc Maes, his teacher of accompaniment practice at the music school, whose six-year training has resulted in a contemporary chamber opera called “Botrytis”, performed at the Nadar Summer Academy, and in an enormously broad musical horizon.
In addition to piano and composition, he has eleven years of experience with choral singing, in the children’s and youth choir of de Poel conducted by Johannes Dewilde, of which he has been accompanying both choirs on the piano for six years. Three years ago he also started a choral conducting course with Johannes Dewilde, for which he will take final exams in September. He will then continue his studies in choral conducting in a specialization at the Poel.
