Titus van Rijn kreeg vioolles van Liora Ish-Hurwitz vanaf z’n vijfde maar had ook interesse voor cello. Toen hij acht was wilde hij weer cello spelen omdat Titus’ broertje dit ook deed, dit vond de cellodocent geen goed idee.
Titus had bijzondere interesses zoals de doedelzak en uiteindelijk kwam hij bij de altviool uit. Hiervoor kreeg hij een enorme passie en wilde nooit meer terug naar de viool maar hij had nog steeds les van Liora.
Toen hij tien ging hij in het Cuypers- ensemble spelen, destijds onder leiding van Maurits Wijzenbeek. Tijdens het laatste jaar van het ensemble, toen Liora Ish-Hurwitz dirigeerde, soleerde Titus in het altvioolconcert van Telemann.
Daarna werd hij aangenomen bij het Amersfoorts Jeugd Orkest waarmee hij op tournee naar Italië ging. Titus speelt heel graag kamermuziek. Daarom deed hij in 2022, 2023 en 2024 mee aan de Zomercursus Woudschoten. Sinds januari 2023 volgt Titus les bij altviooldocent Annemarie Konijnenburg.
Titus van Rijn began violin lessons with Liora Ish-Hurwitz at the age of five but also showed an interest in the cello. When he was eight, he wanted to play the cello again because his younger brother was learning it too, but the cello teacher advised against it.
Titus has explored unique interests, such as the bagpipes, which eventually led him to the viola. He developed a deep passion for the viola and never wanted to return to the violin, though he continued lessons with Liora.
At the age of ten, Titus joined the Cuypers Ensemble, which was then led by Maurits Wijzenbeek. In the ensemble’s final year, under the direction of Liora Ish-Hurwitz, Titus performed as a soloist in Telemann’s Viola Concerto.
Afterward, he was accepted into the Amersfoort Youth Orchestra, with which he toured Italy. Titus has a great love for chamber music, which led him to participate in the Woudschoten Summer Course in 2022, 2023, and 2024. Since January 2023, Titus has been taking viola lessons with Annemarie Konijnenburg.
