Tobias Feldmann, geboren in 1991 in Fulda, Duitsland, ontving zijn eerste vioollessen op zevenjarige leeftijd waarna hij snel doorgroeide naar de gevorderde klas van de Musikhochschule Würzburg. Hij voltooide zijn studie in Berlijn aan de Musikhochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” bij Antje Weithaas. Op 26-jarige leeftijd werd Tobias benoemd tot professor aan de Hochschule für Musik Würzburg, waarmee hij een van de jongste vioolprofessoren in de geschiedenis van Duitsland was.
Tobias Feldmann wordt geprezen om zijn “meeslepende lyriek” (The Telegraph) en “virtuoze energie” (Fanfare) in uitvoeringen van repertoire variërend van Mozart en Beethoven tot Bartok, Sibelius en Rautavaara
Hoogtepunten van het seizoen 2019-2020 zijn onder meer concerten met de Bournemouth Symphony, Tampere Philharmonic, Tapiola Sinfonietta, Staatsorchester Hannover, Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra, Uppsala Chamber Orchestra en Qatar Philharmonic. Net als optredens met de Neubrandenburger Philharmoniker als artist-in-residence en kamerrecitals op Vinterfest, Festspielhaus Baden-Baden en Alte Oper Frankfurt
Tobias won onder meer prijzen op de Internationale Koningin Elisabethwedstrijd (2015), Joseph Joachim International Violin Competition (2012) en German Music Competition (2012). Sindsdien treedt hij op met het Residentie Orkest, NDR Radiophilharmonie Orchester, Beethoven Orchestre Bonn, Utah Symphony, Billkent Symphony, Barcelona Symphony en Brussels Philharmonic. Daarnaast werkt hij samen met onder andere John Storgårds, Nicholas Collon, Karl-Heinz Steffens, Fabien Gabel, Marin Alsop, Ainārs Rubiķis en Reinhard Goebel
Als fervent kamermusicus treedt Tobias regelmatig op op podia als het Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Wenen Konzerthaus, Beethovenhaus Bonn en Kumho Arts Hall Seoul, en op festivals als de Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Schubertiade, Rheingau, Moritzburg, Sleeswijk-Holstein, Schwetzingen en Lockenhaus. Collega’s van kamermuziek zijn onder andere Kian Soltani, Denis Kozhukin, Tabea Zimmermann, Kit Armstrong, Maximilian Hornung, Boris Kusnezow, Istvan Vardai en Nicolas Altstaedt
In 2014 bracht Tobias zijn debuut-cd uit met werken van Beethoven, Ysaÿe, Bartók en Waxman, die onmiddellijk veel lof en aandacht trok van de internationale pers. Zijn tweede recitalopname met pianist Boris Kusnezow kwam uit in 2017, waarna zijn derde album snel volgde in mei 2018 met concerten van Sibelius en Rautavaara met het Orchestre Philharmonique Royale de Liege op het Alpha-label.
Born in 1991 in Fulda, Germany, Tobias Feldmann received his first violin lessons at the age of seven before quickly progressing to the advanced class of Musikhochschule Würzburg. He then completed his studies in Berlin at the Musikhochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” with Antje Weithaas. At age of 26, Tobias was appointed as a professor at the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg, making him one of the youngest violin professors in the history of Germany.
He has been praised for “rapturous lyricism” (The Telegraph) and “virtuosic energy”(Fanfare) in performances of repertoire ranging from Mozart and Beethoven to Bartok, Sibelius and Rautavaara
Highlights of the 2019-2020 season include concertos with the Bournemouth Symphony, Tampere Philharmonic, Tapiola Sinfonietta, Staatsorchester Hannover, Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra, Uppsala Chamber Orchestra and Qatar Philharmonic. Tobias’ many accolades include prizes at the International Queen Elisabeth Competition (2015), Joseph Joachim International Violin Competition (2012) and German Music Competition (2012). He has since gone on to perform with the Residentie Orkest, NDR Radiophilharmonie Orchester, Beethoven Orchester Bonn, Utah Symphony, Billkent Symphony, Barcelona Symphony and Brussels Philharmonic. As an avid chamber musician, Tobias appears regularly at venues such as the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Vienna Konzerthaus, Beethovenhaus Bonn and Kumho Arts Hall Seoul, and at festivals such as the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Schubertiade, Rheingau, Moritzburg, Schleswig-Holstein, Schwetzingen and Lockenhaus. Chamber music colleagues include Kian Soltani, Denis Kozhukin, Tabea Zimmermann, Kit Armstrong, Maximilian Hornung, Boris Kusnezow, Istvan Vardai and Nicolas Altstaedt.
In 2014 Tobias released his debut CD featuring works by Beethoven, Ysaÿe, Bartók and Waxman which immediately attracted widespread praise and attention from the international press. His second recital recording with pianist Boris Kusnezow was released in 2017, followed swiftly with his third album in May 2018 featuring concertos by Sibelius and Rautavaara with the Orchestre Philharmonique Royale de Liege on the Alpha label.
