Yelin Wangzhang werd in 2007 geboren. Ze begon piano te spelen toen ze zes jaar jong was. Ze hoorde een mooi pianostuk op de radio en werd op slag verliefd op het instrument. Daarop volgde ze les bij Lieve Van der Plaetsen. In 2016 werd zij tweede laureate van de Vlamo-wedstrijd voor piano. In 2017 werd ze verkozen om het lichtfestival in Gent te openen. In mei 2018 werden Yelin en Floor Hamerlinck tweede laureaten in de Vlamo-wedstrijd voor kleine ensembles.
Vanaf 2019 begon Yelin les te volgen bij Catharina Leijnse en nam ze deel aan het TV-programma Thomas speelt het hard. Ze behaalde de speciale prijs en kon hierdoor met het Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra in de Bijloke te Gent spelen. Ook in dat jaar werd Yelin eerste laureate van de Vlamo-wedstrijd voor piano.
In september 2020 werd zij tweede laureaat-finaliste bij de Cantabile-pianowedstrijd met concerten en opname als beloning.
In november 2021 werd zij finaliste bij de internationale EPTA-wedstrijd. In maart werd Yelin tweede laureate bij de Steinway Pianowedstrijd. Yelin werd ook derde laureate bij de Cantabile Pianowedstrijd en mocht als beloning in Beveren optreden. Op 28 mei werd Yelin tweede finaliste-laureaat van Concours de piano Liège.
In april 2023 werd ze eerste laureaat-finaliste in de Vlamo solisten wedstrijd. In maart 2024 werd Yelin derde laureate bij de Steinway Pianowedstrijd in Bozar Brussel. In maart 2024 mocht Yelin spelen voor Arte Amanti als jong talent in kasteel de Renesse in Oostmalle.
Zij volgde reeds masterclasses bij Vitaly Samoshko, Lukas Vondracek, Zlata Chochieva, Shai Wosner en anderen.
Yelin Wangzhang (b. 15 September 2007) began playing piano at the age of six. She first heard a beautiful piano piece on the radio and immediately fell in love with the instrument, starting lessons with Lieve Van der Plaetsen. In 2016, Yelin became the second laureate of the Vlamo Piano Competition. In 2017, she was chosen to open the Ghent Light Festival. In May 2018, Yelin and Floor Hamerlinck were named second laureates in the Vlamo Competition for small ensembles.
From 2019, Yelin began studying with Catharina Leijnse and participated in the TV program “Thomas speelt het hard” (Thomas Plays Hard). She received a special prize, which granted her the opportunity to perform with the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra at De Bijloke in Ghent. That same year, Yelin became the first laureate of the Vlamo Piano Competition.
In September 2020, she was awarded second laureate-finalist at the Cantabile Piano Competition, earning concert performances and a recording opportunity as a prize. In November 2021, she was a finalist in the international EPTA competition. On 13 March 2022, Yelin became the second laureate of the Steinway Piano Competition. Later that year, she earned third place at the Cantabile Piano Competition and, as a reward, performed in a beautiful castle in Beveren.
On 28 May 2022, Yelin was named second finalist-laureate at the Concours de Piano de Liège. On 16 April 2023, she won first laureate-finalist at the Vlamo Soloists Competition. On 3 March 2024, she was awarded third place at the Steinway Piano Competition at Bozar Brussels. On 17 March 2024, Yelin performed as a young talent for Arte Amanti at Castle de Renesse in Oostmalle.
She has participated in masterclasses with distinguished pianists, including Vitaly Samoshko, Lukas Vondráček, Zlata Chochieva, and Shai Wosner, among others.
