Yossif Ivanov profileerde zich snel als één van de boeiendste violisten van zijn generatie. Hij studeerde viool bij Zakhar Bron en volgde ook lessen bij Igor & Valery Oistrakh en Augustin Dumay. Sinds 2008 is hij de jongste viool docent aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium van Brussel.
Op 16-jarige leeftijd ontving hij de Eerste Prijs van het ‘Concours Musical International de Montréal’ in Canada, en twee jaar later won hij de tweede prijs alsook de publieksprijs op de Koningin Elisabethwedstrijd in Brussel.
Yossif Ivanov kan reeds terugblikken op een indrukwekkende reeks debuutconcerten op alle belangrijke Europese podia. Als solist gaf hij concerten met een indrukwekkende lijst van meer dan tien orkesten
waaronder het Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra Sinfonica della RAI, Vancouver Symphony, alsook alle belangrijke orkesten in België.
Hij werkte samen met gerenommeerde dirigenten als Neëme Järvi, Marin Alsop, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Vladimir Jurowski, Kazushi Ono, Jean-Claude Casadesus, Philippe Herreweghe, Jaap van Zweden, Jesús López Cobos, Ion Marin, Yuri Simonov, Louis Langrée en John Axelrod.
In 2010 werd hij uitgenodigd op tournee doorheen Noord-Amerika met het London Philharmonic Orchestra en maakte hij zijn Aziatisch debuut.
Yossif Ivanov werd gevraagd om recitals te spelen op onder meer de ‘Menton & Montpellier Festivals’ in Frankrijk, het Mozarteum te Salzburg, in het Kichijoji Theatre in Tokio, de Philharmonie in Essen, op het ‘Beethovenfest’ in Bonn, in de Istituzione Universitaria dei Concerti in Rome, Carnegie Hall in New York en de Ladies’ Morning Musical Club in Montreal.
Naast zijn vaste recitalpartner Itamar Golan, werkt Yossif ook graag samen met Ingrid Fliter, Frank Braley, David Kadouch en Plamena Mangova.
Zijn eerste cd-opname met sonates van Franck, Ysaÿe en D’Haene verscheen bij het label Ambroisie/Naïve en werd bekroond met een ‘Diapason d’or de l’année’. Zijn twee concerto-opnames van
Bartók & Sjostakovitsj concerti, alsook een Dutilleux-cd werden erg lovend onthaald.
Yossif Ivanov bespeelt de ‘Lady Tennant’ Stradivarius uit 1699, gul in bruikleen gegeven door de Stradivari Society uit Chicago.
Yossif Ivanov quickly established himself as one of the most exciting violinists of his generation. He studied the violin with Zakhar Bron, Igor & Valery Oistrakh and Augustin Dumay. Since 2008 he is the youngest violin teacher at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.
At the age of 16 he was awarded First Prize at the Montreal International Competition, and two years later the Second Prize, as well as the Public Prize, at the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels.
Over the past seasons Yossif Ivanov has made acclaimed debuts in all the major European halls. As a soloist he gave concerts with an impressive list of more than ten orchestras including the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra Sinfonica della RAI, Vancouver Symphony, as well as all major Belgian orchestras.
He has collaborated with well-known conductors such as Neëme Järvi, Marin Alsop, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Vladimir Jurowski, Kazushi Ono, Jean-Claude Casadesus, Philippe Herreweghe, Jaap Van Zweden, Jesus Lopez-Cobos, Ion Marin, Yuri Simonov, Louis Langrée and John Axelrod.
In 2010 he was invited to tour North America with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and made his Asian debut. Yossif Ivanov has been invited to play recitals at the Menton & Montpellier Festivals (France), Mozarteum Salzburg, Tokyo (Kichijoji Theatre), Philharmonie Essen, Beethovenfest Bonn, the Istituzione Universitaria dei Concerti Roma, Carnegie Hall (New York), the Ladies’ Morning Musical Club in Montréal, and others.
His regular recital partner is Itamar Golan, but Yossif has also collaborated with Ingrid Fliter, Frank Braley, David Kadouch and Plamena Mangova.
His debut recording on the Ambroisie/Naïve label (sonatas by Franck,Ysaye & D’Haene) was awarded a Diapason d’Or de l’Année. Both his concerto recordings (concerti by Bartók & Shostakovich, as well as a Dutilleux-CD) also received high critical acclaim.
