Yunah Proost, geboren in Antwerpen, studeerde bij Justus Grimm aan het conservatorium van Antwerpen waar ze haar Bachelor and Master behaalde, ze studeerde ook bij David Cohen in London en bij Gabriel Schwabe in Maastricht voordat ze naar Zwitserland verhuisde om een postgraduaat te volgen bij Roel Dieltiens aan de Zürcher Hochschule der Künste. Momenteel volgt Yunah een pedagogische opleiding aan de Hochschule der Künste in Bern in de klas van Conradin Brotbek.
Yunah volgde masterclasses bij o.a. Pieter Wispelwey, Peter Bruns, Jean-Guihen Queyras, Claudio Bohorquez, Pavel Gomziakov, Gustav Rivinius.
Ze maakte deel uit van het Ignis Quartet (België) en het Dréme Quartet (Londen). Momenteel speelt Yunah voornamelijk in duo met Thomas Eeckhout (piano), Santiago Bernal (Cello) en met Melanie Gruwez (viool).
Naast haar passie voor klassieke muziek is Yunah ook erg geïnteresseerd in traditionele muziek. Ze focust daarbij vooral op de Iraanse klassieke muziektraditie en de studie van de kamanche, een Iraans traditioneel strijkinstrument. Ze speelt in duo met haar kamanche leraar Mostafa Taleb.
De samenwerking tussen verschillende kunstvormen is eveneens erg belangrijk voor Yunah. Tijdens haar studies in Antwerpen en Londen maakte ze verschillende voorstellingen met dansers, acteurs en strijkkwartet. Ze was cellist in ToyBox (2019, Opera Cologne) en Other Tales From the Underground (2016, Parktheater Eindhoven), beiden gechoreografeerd door Johnny Lloyd (US). Samen met het Ignis Quartet speelde ze mee in Venn, een compilatie van werken van Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Damien Jalet, geleid door Iris Bouche (2016). In 2019 creëerde ze haar eerste eigen productie ‘Habil Sayagi’, een voorstelling rond Azerbeidzjaanse volksmuziek met dans en schilderkunst. Yunah speelde op klassieke, folk en dansfestivals zoals o.a. Brosella Folk and Jazz Festival Brussels, B-Classic Festival, Arte Amanti Festival, November Music, Alba Nova Festival, Babelut Festival, Theater Festival Best of the Fest in Eindhoven e.a.

Yunah is currently following a pedagogical training at the Hochschule der Künste in Bern in the class of Conradin Brotbek.
